member icon Beware--Hotel Faxes Personal Information!

43 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Stayed at the hotel for 6 nights/7 days. I paid with my credit card and the reservation was under my name.

My spouse called the hotel upon my return home at midnight the hotel desk clerk faxed to him my entire hotel bill including my credit card number!!!! (I'm not sure why the hotel machine prints the entire number not just the last 4 for five, as do most businesses???) The bill had my entire credit card number with expiration date, food bill, movie bill and who knows what else. Had this been faxed to anyone claiming to be my spouse my identity could have been stolen.

My spouse was NOT registered at the hotel nor is he an authorized signer on my credit card. You wonder how the desk clerk even knew the person they were speaking with was my spouse. Plus my credit card was charged for the use of the fax from the hotel.

I called the manager of the hotel to speak with him regarding the situation, he promised to call me back, that was in May 2004!!! I have filed complaints with the BBB and the attorney general.

After 9/11, the new privacy acts including The Patriot Act have been put in place, people wouldn't be faxing information to persons who can't be verified as to who they are. No information should be faxed to anyone UNLESS the person who was registered in the hotel can provide information i.e. credit card number, dates of arrival/departure.

YOUR PRIVACY AT THIS HOTEL IS NOT GUARANTEED - BEWARE!!!!!

36 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We stayed at the Bentley Hotel from 11.8.07-17.08.07

The Hotel itself was more or less in nice shape, and also the Location was not so bad.

In a relatively quiet area for NYC.

But anyway there where a few unnecessary happenings.

We left in the Bathroom a Plastic Bag with some Cosmetic and Sanitary items.....until the Cleaning Stuff Trashed it.

The Management showed no Interrest neither in the search for itr nor in Reducing some of the costs.

Because we had to buy these Items again.

On the last Day during Check out they Presented a Hotel-Check for more than 600$............but we already payed it advance.

(These doesnt Indicate very much competence).

And finally we should pay for an AMSTEL(Beer) that we've never had touched.

We actually never opened the Minibar.

As a Resume I would say the Hotel is OK but the Management is lacking some competence and Interrest.

43 year old woman with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

I loved the excellent upper east side location, the great shops and the restaurants nearby. With the exception of one nighttime front desk person, the staff was fantastic. The hotel is very chic and a great value. I have stayed there on several occasions and I have had nothing but positive experiences each time. It is a true hidden gem in Manhattan.

This hotel made me feel inspired: The beautiful decor and the stunning view made me inspired to embrace the city. It has an energy from its location that makes you want to jump into the neighborhood life and ride the Roosevelt Island cable car that is visible from the rooms and the rooftop.

I am very likely to return to the Bentley Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

57 year old woman with a luxury budget, traveling for business

My suite room was spacious and attractively decorated, and the bed was very comfortable with its down comforter. However, the window blinds were too short and did not entirely cover the two windowed walls, making it hard to sleep after the sun came up. This is unacceptable for over $300 a night.

The halls and the elevators were very dark, probably in an attempt to be cutting edge chic. It was a bit hard to see the elevators buttons, especially when I was very tired, as the car was painted black and only had four tiny recessed lights in its ceiling. Breakfast was not available, one has to go out of the building to the nearest place, a classic NYC diner a block away. It's fine in good weather, but not in bad.

I am not likely to return to the Bentley Hotel.
I might recommend it to friends.

65 year old woman with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

It was a small, pleasant hotel with an art deco decor with very good service. The room was comfortable and clean with a great view of the city and East River. The rooftop restaurant had excellent service and food and a terrace outside.

This hotel made me feel important: They treated my seventeen-year-old granddaughter and me with the utmost respect and importance.

I am very likely to return to the Bentley Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
