The showers were really gross ... grungy floors, no hooks to hang anything up - just a damp scummy toilet to set your stuff on. The water was hot, at least.
Some of the staff were helpful though one staff member was a little too aggressive in handling my bills while I sorted through my change - I can count myself, thank you. After I checked out, I found myself missing 20,000 pesos.
Later that day I asked if there was a chance I had overpaid by accident and she quickly replied, "Oh no, I just counted my float two minutes ago to make sure I wasn't over," which I thought was an odd response.
Room was adequate - clean sheets, window, plain, hostel-like, I guess (though I've stayed in some cute & quirky places). The common areas had character but the photos I saw were misleading.
Kitchen was gross - dirty counters, no clean dish cloths or towels and you need to wash your dishes before you use them.
The location is fairly central, walking distance to most things but on a quiet street that is Not that well lit at night.
In any case, I would recommend the area, but not the hostel.
