Poor
member icon Gross shower-good location-missing pesos

The showers were really gross ... grungy floors, no hooks to hang anything up - just a damp scummy toilet to set your stuff on. The water was hot, at least.

Some of the staff were helpful though one staff member was a little too aggressive in handling my bills while I sorted through my change - I can count myself, thank you. After I checked out, I found myself missing 20,000 pesos.

Later that day I asked if there was a chance I had overpaid by accident and she quickly replied, "Oh no, I just counted my float two minutes ago to make sure I wasn't over," which I thought was an odd response.

Room was adequate - clean sheets, window, plain, hostel-like, I guess (though I've stayed in some cute & quirky places). The common areas had character but the photos I saw were misleading.

Kitchen was gross - dirty counters, no clean dish cloths or towels and you need to wash your dishes before you use them.

The location is fairly central, walking distance to most things but on a quiet street that is Not that well lit at night.

In any case, I would recommend the area, but not the hostel.

26 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

We stayed here on our first night in South America. It was really a perfect hostel.

The staff was extremely helpful: They helped make our arrangements for further travel and put up with our learning to navigate the Chilean telephone system. The hostel itself is just as eclectic as a good hostel should be, with lots of original art and interesting spaces.

There's a nice roof deck for meals and drinks. The location is convenient. We were able to walk to all the sites we choose in Santiago and it was a short walk to the Metro (airport, train/bus station). It's highly recommended.

This is a pretty nice hostel, with creaky floors and cold rooms. I liked it, but I have stayed in better hostels.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Bellavista Hostel.
I might recommend it to friends.
