We are four very tired school teachers that spend our spring break at the Beachwalk Hotel each year. The staff is wonderful! The rooms are clean and breakfast each morning is great. I can not say enough about this hotel. It is very affordable for us and the people at the front office are very sweet. Our trip to the island is what gets us through our school year. The Beachwalk is perfect for us.

We were supposed to stay four nights, but we checked out after the first. We ended up at the Comfort Inn.
This is a former Holiday Inn, the new owners reportedly acquiring this hotel in early 2006. We were given, without being asked, a room for the handicapped, which we didn't need, and which limited the amount of useable room space for a family of four. We were on the second floor, and found cat food strewn about just outside of the room next door. (The hotel accepts pets.) We visited in July 2006, the air temperature was in the mid 90's. The air conditioner did not keep the room comfortable as it was controlled by a motion sensor, no movement in the room meant reduced air conditioning. We found a way to defeat the controller and obtain a sustainable level of coolness. Malfunctions in addition to the air conditioning were: The TV remote, the pool lights, and on site washing machine. It seems to be managed by a local family now.

The location of the hotel is prime and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only problem was it was often dirty in the halls due to all of the sand and water from the beach.
