I lost an item at the hotel bar and the staff did not speak fluent English, so everyone I tried to ask for help could not and did not understand me. Our phone was broken for the entire stay and it was very frustrating dealing with staff that did not speak this country's language. I ended up buying a new coat because the staff could not understand my description of it.
I am not likely
to return to the Beach House.
I would not recommend it to friends.

Regretfully, I chose to stay at this "hotel" under the impression that it was still being managed and operated by the Rubell family. Its not! A real estate developer/sales & marketing company has been running what was once a lovely hotel to the ground; they say it will be demolished this summer (2006) and condo building will take its place.
I was quoted a long term rate of $39.00 per day and was welcomed as a VIP. Actually, the rate that I was charged turned out to be $59.00 for a while- then $79.00, $89.00 and ultimately $175.00 per day. The rate increases were done at random without my prior consent nor approval. Many times I was charged 3X for one day- they management can and did "roll back" payments and apply several to the same day. It is very dishonest and inappropriate to deceive and not deliver. I'm sorry that I ever checked in. Be extremely careful, keep all your receipts and do pay with cash.

All Review Photos We loved this place in November. Designed by Ralph Lauren, so the lobby and sitting areas were very stylized. I suspect we got the deal we got because of neighboring construction, which at times cast a shadow over the pool. ...
