We travel to the outer banks several times each summer. This was the first time we have stayed at Beach Haven. When we pulled into the hotel, we were very impressed by the appearance of the hotel. The landscaping was very clean and well maintained. The woman working in the office was very friendly and inviting and gave me a tour of the hotel. When we walked into the room it smelled great! Very fresh and clean. The room was very clean and well organized. Much different than the typical "hotel" experience. Checking out was a different story. Check out is at 10 am.. we couldn't find anyone in the office from 9-10 and spent almost an hour trying to check out. Finally, we left our key on the dresser in our hotel room and left. My only complaint is the lack of a warm body at checkout time.

The "kitchen" was actually a dorm sized fridge and microwave in the bathroom! We had to wash the dishes in the bathroom sink and therefor bought plastic dinnerware. There was rarely anyone in the office to answer questions or offer service. The towels were not changed everyday and due to the summer humidity, smelled like mildew. Overall it was over priced.

We have gone to Beach Haven for years and have never been treated so badly. We will never go there again and will make sure that we tell others! They really need to hire people that know what customer service is.

if you are looking for a personal experience apart from the normal motel room then beach haven is the place to go. small but sincere, its the perfect place for a trip that you will never forget.
What a wonderful off-the beaten path place. It's immaculate and Joe is a sweetheart. This is not only his business, but his home as well and he treats everybody like a cherished friend. We recommend everybody stay here.
