Horrible
female with an economy budget, traveling for leisure

We went to this motel so we could bring our dog. It was so filthy and smelly we could not waite to leave. The mold smell was very strog and you could smell the sent of other dogs that were in the room before us. The bed spread had dog hair on it and not from our dog. The water in the showder driped out to shower NO PRESSURE AT ALL . And the dog cost 15.00 a night WHY ! The spread was not washed ,we had to clean the floor every day,no maide service when you bring a dog. Under the bed was more dog hair piles then hair on opur dog. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO WORTH THE MONEY YOU HAD TO PAY PER NIGHT.

Excellent
40 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

We read some of the reviews on this motel and we already had our reservations made for it so we did not know what to expect. it is a 50's style motel but very nice. the pool was very clean with a slide. plenty of chairs around the pool and 2 outside our room. the room was always clean as were the linens. more then ample towels. the rooms could use a little up date. the drapes had a musty oder to them and some of the draws in the chest. but other then that we had a wonder time. we did not have a pet with us but we did enjoy talking to the pet owners and seeing the asst. of dogs. the dogs were no problem to us at all. we thought it was very nice that people had a place to bring them with them. the grounds were very clean, even with dogs, and pretty flowers around the pool area. the beach was a short walk and two places to eat near by if you did not want to drive. over all this motel needs a little update but a wonerful place to stay even needing the up dates. we will go back and and family with pets or kids would have a great time here.

Clean, friendly, and a great location – Posted Aug 25, 2007

Good
36 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

We just returned from a week stay at the Beach Colony Motel. After reading some other reviews I was nervous about staying there but it was one of the few pet friendly hotels in Wildwood Crest. However, I found this hotel to be much better than I had expected. The motel looks much nicer than the pictures from the website. The hotel is smaller than many others in the crest and is not as modern. For example there is no internet access and the furnishings are not new. However the rooms, pool and grounds are very clean and comfortable. There is a large pool with a slide that I saw being cleaned each morning. There are trees and flowers surrounding the pool area. There are many lounge chairs, picnic tables, and gas grills for guest use. Our air conditioner, tv, and bed linens looked brand new. We had a clean full size refrig., microwave, and a small kitchen area that was fully equipped. Our room was kept very clean. Our room was one of the few without carpet so the floor was always very clean. The hotel is not ocean front, but the beach is just steps away with no streets to cross. It is in a quiet part of the crest, but the trolley to the boardwalk stops right outside. Lola and her staff were very friendly and made you feel at home here. All of the other guests were either couples or families- no loud college parties happening here. All of the guests were very friendly and all seemed to enjoy their stay- some with pets and others without pets. Although there were many dogs here you never heard loud barking or any other noise. This is really a great hotel for the price. I have stayed at numerous hotels throughout Wildwood, including many of the larger most expensive hotels. While they may have a few more amenities, they are often very loud and crowded. We had one of the best vacations I have ever had in Wildwood at the Beach Colony and I will definately stay here again.

Okay
42 year old female with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

You get what you pay for with Beach Colony. Considering we pretty much only used the room for showering and sleeping, this motel was nice and clean. the hostess is very friendly and housekeeping did a nice job with cleaning the room each day. The beach is walking distance, not even 5 minutes away and the area was pretty quiet, no heavy traffic or crowd. The pool was cleaned every morning. There is no restaurant on site but many within walking distance. The Saratoga Inn was the next street over. It is a very nice coffee shop with delicious sandwiches and reasonable prices. The Admiral's Quarters, another close by restaurant serving breakfast until 2pm only, very reasonable prices and great food. I would recommend Schellengers restaurant, it is within a ten minute drive and well worth it. They specialize in seafood, have a nice menu and you get plenty of food. There are local coupon books for attractions and one that we came across was for a free appetizer for each entree ordered. What a deal that was !!

Excellent
58 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

This was the best motel we ever stayed in in the crest. We went to it because we could bring our dogs and it turned out great. And it was fun to sit outside with the dogs and visit with other pet owners that were at the notel. The beach is right there and a place to have breakfast and dinner across the street and the Tram picked us up in the parking lot. It was great. The only time we took our car out was to go into Cape May. The rooms were spotless. The pet friendly room did not have carpets so there was no pet orders . And it was easy to clean up after the dogs with sand and water with having no carpet. The pool is large and very clean. With plenty of chairs to lay on around it. There was a man at the pool every morning cleaning it and cleaning the ground and taken care of the flowers. The owner was a great help to us. She cared if our stay was enjoyable or not. The maid service was great, she did a good job cleaning the room. The motel is clean, friendly and close to the beach. I would tell anyone with kids or pets that this is a wonderful place to take them to. And we make our reservation for next year already.

A filthy establishment! – Posted Jul 31, 2007

Horrible
25 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

Unbelievably disgusting! The office was horrible and had a horrific odor that imitated embalming fluid. What was worse was that when we walked up to our room, you actually saw green mold covering the steps and passing ways. It was horrible. They did allow us to bring our little pug but the room was in such terrible condition and we even saw little bugs cowering over one particular spot on the carpet in the corner of the room! The bed linens were dirty, the bathroom had sand and some sort of black substance in the tub, and the furniture was all scratched up and smelled something awful. We checked in...paid for a week...and then left within 10 minutes of seeing the room. She wouldn't give us back any of our money, but that's fine. Keep it for repair!

Also the pool was freezing and the filter wasn't even running. The guests that occupied this motel were comedy acts as well. If you are thinking of this place because they are pet friendly, try some places in cape may like Marquis de Lafayette or Cape may palace (something like that). If you love your puppy so much like I love mine you wouldn't let her or him even sleep at beach colony! My dog actually was sneezing non-stop from all of the mold spores that were face level to her.

Save your money and your time. This place needs to be looked into by the board of health!

Okay
65 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

The web site needs to have current pictures. There is the Stockton Beach House condo which now obstructs any ocean front views. The beds are hard, almost like sleeping on a board. The towels provided are small and coarse.

There is no private balcony for any of the rooms, just a couple of chairs outside the room on the walkway. This is an old motel in need of refurbishing.

The owner and people at the motel are hospitable and helpful when asking about local dining places and shopping areas. The bathtub didn't drain very well which is not pleasant when showering, especially with the sand that is everywhere. We would opt to stay elsewhere on our next visit
