Yep that was our first night, counting baby spider after baby spider. From the bed post to the lamp filled with little "Charlottes" all spinning their webs. A spider hatching kicked off our two night stay. They tried to wipe them away but we kept finding them, in the bed and in our dreams...ruined our experience there. Enjoyed the island but not the Bay View, After check in check your bed!!!

Okay
We made reservations over the phone after much research in the area. This B&B was pricey, but we thought it would be on the upscale and on the nice side. When making reservations, I requested a room with a full bath and was assured I would get that. ...

My wife and I stayed here for our 10 year anniversary. We had a great time and experience. The staff was great and the food is unbelievable. We would highly recommened this place to stay. We spent most of our time doing things on the island and was only in our room to sleep, change and shower. We stayed 6/24 - 6/27/08

My wife and I were on our honeymoon for a three night stay at the Bay View B&B on Mackinac Island. We were checked in by a very nice southern girl. We quickly found the food to be very, very good. Location and overall cleanliness was very good. The room was about 12'x12' in size with the sink in the room (not in the bathroom). There was no closet; only a 4-hook coat rack that was coming off the wall. The bed was not comfortable. What turned us off most from this establishment is that the cable TV was not working in our room, but it was working in other rooms. This was important to us because we like to check up to date weather to plan our activities. Also, it's nice to come back to the room after a day of activities to relax in front of the TV. I hope they didn't think just because we were on our honeymoon we wouldn't even care of this. Upon notifying the staff our cable was out, we were told "Oh, the island is funny like that sometimes. We have been getting complaints from others about this too. I will call other hotels to see if they have lost their cable." We came to find out it was only the second floor. On our third day (after two nights) they had someone out to look at the problem, but it did not get fixed. At this point the hotel manager told us "you're lucky there's even a cable person on the island right now." We paid $404 for this stay, therefore this is not our problem. The staff made no attempt to right this problem in any way except by offering the "Somewhere in Time" video for us to watch. We're not picky or hard to deal with people, but think something like this problem is a big deal. The last and most important strike against the Bay View B&B is that it did not have the warm atmosphere and homey feel described on their website.

Last year we took a tour of the place and were shown a nice sized room and a very nice welcome. We made a reservation for the early part of this summer. Got there, after a long trip and were given the smallest room I have ever seen. There was hardly any room to breathe. Mackinac Island is very expensive to stay on. But this is no excuse for the accomadations we were subjected to. Please don't waste your time or money. I'm so sorry we wasted our vacation here. My husband works like a slave all year and then to be subjected to this as a "vacation".

We spent three nights at the Bay View in a standard room. It was elegantly decorated, although it was very small. The bed was comfortable and since we didn't spend much time in the room, we didn't mind. We would probably prefer a slightly larger room the next time, however. The staff was probably the highlight of our visit. The food was outstanding each morning and evening. We considered it a treat to be able to stay in this elegant old home.
