Oceanfront bed and breakfast inn, an easy walk from downtown Bar Harbor, Maine, with impeccably decorated rooms and elegant suites, expansive ocean views, balconies, fireplaces, saunas, whirlpools, luxurious amenities.
Balance Rock Inn is one of the premier oceanfront lodging properties in Bar Harbor, ME. Set on a secluded tree-covered property with expansive views of Frenchman's Bay, this luxurious bed and breakfast Inn's name celebrates the "balance rock," a precariously positioned boulder on the nearby ocean shore, a huge remnant from an ice age.
The Inn offers a tremendous sense of privacy and serenity, yet steps away lies downtown Bar Harbor with its village green and many fine shops and restaurants. Built as a family "cottage" in 1903, when wealthy tycoons selected the most desirable locations along the rocky, island-studded Maine coast for their summer season mansions, Balance Rock Inn today presents romantic ambiance and luxury amenities to make your vacation relaxing and unforgettable. Gaze from the veranda past the glistening swimming pool, beautiful flower gardens and sweeping lawns framed with stately trees, to where the property connects with the historic Shore Path walk along the water's edge. Delight your senses in the comfortably appointed guest rooms and suites, each unique with features such as ocean views, fireplaces, whirlpool baths, saunas and private porches. Indulge in the incomparable breakfast, elegant afternoon tea, music of the grand piano, cocktails at Veranda Bar, and the lazy comfort of a lounge chair by the pool.

This inn was absolutely a dream come true. Everything about this inn is wonderful. The mansion is impressive, with a beautiful living room, dining room and piano room. The veranda overlooks a beautiful lawn and garden that takes you right to the...

Excellent
The Balance Rock Inn has everything that any reasonable person could ask for. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. It is one of the few places to stay which is right in town and on the water, and a short drive to Acadia. The atmosphere is...
From the moment you enter the front door you are swept away by the view and the wonderful staff makes you feel like you have come home from a long trip. The Inn is beautiful, rooms very comfortable, but the staff (Mike, Sherry, Sergio, Etc.) make...
47 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure
It is overlooking the water, close to town, and somewhat private. Nice size Inn, not too big, not too small. I would stay here again. We took our breakfast out on the porch each morning, great view looking out over the bay. Tea and snack was served every afternoon. And there was an informal bar outside by the patio and pool which was a nice touch for a small inn. The only downside for me is they did not serve red wine by the glass, only by the bottle. Friendly and attentive staff.
We started by visiting the lodge in Lake George, NY then through Lake Champlain to Burlington Vt, on to Bar Harbor and Balance Rock, home by way of Mystic Seaport. Beautiful trip. The Inn at Balance Rock was wonderful, the food superb, the room...
There is not one thing that we did like about this Bed & Breakfast, from the moment we got there we were taken care of. My husband, myself and my parents all stayed and every one of us agreed that you couldn't ask for a better place to stay. The...
There is no better location in Bar Harbor. The inn is on a quiet street, but less than a block from all the tourist traps lining Main Street. It is located just off the central Village Square. The view off the veranda is beyond expectation. THe...

Mediocre
If you like Inns and B&B's with "thin walls", this is the place for you. Our four-day stay was like living in a "bass drum"!! Slamming doors and bathrooms with flushing toilets on both sides, and above!!
