A charming bed and breakfast retreat providing a full southern breakfast. This exquisite example of Eastlake Victorian was built in 1870 by Lazarus Baer for his wife Leona. Mr. Baer was a prominent local businessman operating Baer Mercantile. Entering the home you are met with a warm glow from the handcrafted American Chestnut and Black walnut detailed woodwork. On each side of the entry are the original large formal parlors - one for family and one for guests which also served as the ballroom. The family parlor invites you to sit by the fire and enjoy a glass of wine or a good book. The guest parlor adjoins the dining room in which your breakfast will be served. One of the original cisterns under the house can be seen through a plexiglas portal in the kitchen floor. The outdoor privy has received much acclaim in past years as one of the few 2-story facilities in the region. You have to see it to believe it! Of course you can use your own rooms full private bath. The Inn is walking distance to museums, restaurants, art galleries, antique shopping, horse carriage rides and historical sites of the Civil War.
