I have stayed at the Austin Plaza and Suites twice in the last six months. The first time, the property was untidy, there were beer cans and cigarette butts on the walkway, trash cans were full and the A/C smelled moldy.
More recently, the place seemed better maintained. The room is large and well-equipped with big TV, iron, coffee maker and comfortable bed. It’s definitely good value.
However, the front desk is understaffed so service is slow when they are busy. A plaque on the desk informs of a $2.50 "amenities fee" that is tacked onto your bill to cover the cost of such "amenities” as parking and the TV, which is ridiculous and poor public relations, especially considering the TV only has basic cable channels.
