RenoGirl icon Christmas dinner - MonteVigna - Atlantis
Posted Dec 26, 07 by RenoGirl, 1 reviews
33 year old woman with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

OK, one of the things I have noted about restaurants in general, is that they never get BETTER with the passage of time. When have you, actually gone to a place over time and have it get better over the years. Well, this special Christmas dinner they have here every year is an example of just that. Last year the food was great and I would rave about it. I really looked forward to coming again this year. I was sorely disappointed. One of the main reasons I picked to come here instead of my many other choices in the Reno area, was the fact that they offered all you can eat rack of lamb at the buffet. Now I can get many places all you can eat crab legs, prawns and steak, but you NEVER see rack of lamb! Last year the quality was great with all of the offerings. They were gourmet sit down restaurant quality. This year the food really sucked! The lamb was all over cooked and dry. Last year I was able to get the server at the lamb station to just give me a whole rack, as it was all you can eat anyhow. This year they refused to do it. I'm not sure if it was a language barrier or not, but the attendant barely spoke english, wish I spoke Mexican! Get employees that speak fluently english PLEASE! esp. if they are to be interacting with the public and customers. On top of all that they ran out of the lamb, half way through the dinner! The crab cakes that were good last year were all dry and the steaks were all over cooked! I realize this is a buffet, but last year they pulled it off just fine! Now for the service, or shall I say lack of. Our server didn't even come by our table to get our drink orders till after we had visited the buffet twice already! Then he was not around much to refill the drinks. He sure came fast with the bill though! I can't see that the food or service at the regular dinner times (non-buffet) would be any better. The price of the buffer was $35 a person. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, there are many other choices in RENO! I will never stay at this awful place again!

After being longtime regulars at the Reno Flamingo (long gone) and then the Peppermill (they just got too stingy...we actually had to beg for a breakfast comp on what was to be our last visit! Not to mention the absolute horrid room they put us in after years of getting VIP treatment...our host had already left for the Atlantis) .

We followed our host to the Atlantis, and while we weren't too impressed with the room's bamboo decor, they were comfy and we found that we really liked the casino, especially the KENO lounge. So many casinos getting rid of their 'live' keno, so it was a lot of fun to be amongst our own kind.

All the restaurants were pretty good, the buffet incredible & very reasonable (if not free). Love the steak house and the pizza cafe... (all that gellatto that you can take up to your room).

Because of illness & family problems we haven't been anywhere for a few years, but even tho I got an offer for 3 free nights at a higher-end Vegas hotel, I am currently planning a long deserved 3 or 4 night get-away and I wouldn't think of going anywhere but the Atlantis in Reno.

I dread the airport portion, it was bad enough in 2004, but it's an unfortunate part of life now.

I can't wait for my fun escape!

We always stay at the Atlantis hotel because we have been treated well and our casino host always helps us with our needs.

I am very likely to return to the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

I was given an incentive to stay there.

This hotel made me feel content: The check in counter staff was more than friendly. They seemed happy to have me stay there and they went out of their way give advice on shows and food service.

I am very likely to return to the Atlantis Casino Resort Spa.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
