The hotel was a focus in the James Bond film `Tomorrow never dies` with Pierce Bosnan.This is certainly one of the most traditional and best Hotels in Germany and there is also a music lounge in the basement which is very popular at the weekend.0707 hm The hotel is a magnificent, traditional, grand, white building with a green copper roof. The entrance is on a side street, off the busy lake road with 2 white columns in the front. Being located on the banks of the Alster, the hotel is situated in the heart of Hamburg, close to elegant shops and cultural attractions. The railway station is just a 10 minute walk away.

While we were staying at the hotel a film crew was filming a local soap opera. The staff was very worried it would interfer with our stay, however we thought it was neat. Great hotel bar.
It was lovely - very spaceous with an Art Deco feel to the public rooms. The food and service were excellent and the staff very friendly. A pity I only had 2 nights as it was beautifully centrally placed for sight-seeing and in a great location...
