No restaurant was open due to a strike. We had to go up the boardwalk to eat unless we ate at the buffet. We had to walk through striking employees to get in and out of the hotel. Room service was poor as the hotel had non-union people doing that job and they obviously had no experience, and spoke minimal English. We were however, given free tickets to the floor show to compensate us for our inconvenience.
This hotel made me feel welcome: The management that was filling in for regular staff went out of their way to make our check in simple and efficient, and they were very polite and pleasant. They had staff right there to take our bags to our rooms, and gave us information about the strike and what the ramifications of it would be.
