46 year old with a luxury budget, traveling for business
My first impression walking into the Marquis, was wow. The interior is a real jaw-dropper. The interior of the Hotel has a massive atrium that stretches all the way to the top, around 48 stories, with glass elevators and is architecturally stunning. I also really liked the atmosphere, and the bar and restaurants.
The interior of the rooms are nice, nothing to write home about, and the views from higher floors are especially nice, although Atlanta still has a way to go as far as city sky-lines go (doesn't compare to Chicago--most of what I saw were parking garages, the few interesting buildings didn't really balance it out).
The beds were something else. The sheets didn't seem fresh, and the pillows were badly used--lumpy and smelly. It grossed me out--I put a towel on the pillows so I could sleep. There was also a problem with the toilet clogging. I left a big note, where it could not be missed for the maids the next day, asking them to get someone to unclog the toilet and bring me some fresh pillows. When I came back--NADA. Toilet was still clogged and nasty, and the pillows were still LUMPY and FUNKY. Although the beds were made--that was about it.
I called the front desk, and they sent somebody to fix the toilet, but I didn't bother asking for fresh pillows again. The next morning, after I used the toilet, it was clogged again. They sent someone up and fixed it again.
When I got home, I noticed a couple of red bumps on my lower abdomen.
The place was such a stunner, I gave it 7 points for that alone. The problems with service and cleanliness were so appauling, I gave that part a negative 2.
I won't be sleeping at the Marquise again any time soon.
