59 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

Not what we expected. An old hotel in decline. Seems to cater to an older set. Rooms are spartan with uncomfortable furniture and small, tight bathrooms. Definitely not a five star hotel, possible three. However, priced like five. Food service is over-rated. Buffets were the mainstay during our visit. Not a place I would recommend to friends.

79 year old man with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

It was a fine hotel, comfortable, with excellent food, good service and a friendly staff. All in all, it was a very pleasant experience.

I am very likely to return to the Athenaeum Hotel.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.
