Astor on the Park

I stayed here with my son on our first trip to New York. The price was right, the staff was great and the neighborhood was wonderful. I felt safe and we were right across from Central Park. My only "complaints" would have to be that the ice tasted funny and we had no cable tv. I didn't really need ice in my room and I wasn't there to watch tv. We would definately stay there again.

We have just returned from New York and we had a wonderful time, apart form the "Astor on the Park". Our room was so small that we had to turn sideways to pass each other, the window looked out onto an enclosed yard and there was no natural light. We could not tell if it was raining or sunny. This property should be called a hostel not a hotel, a cab driver even called it a hostel when we gave him directions. Not recommended.

The hotel has a great location. The Astor suite has city and water views with private butler service.

I stayed two times at this hotel. In January we were in a room that had a loud clanking radiator, we were moved to a room without heat and had a room with a leaking radiator. They have beautiful bathrooms and nice looks and a nice staff. I stayed in May and had no problem.

This hotel made me feel welcome: They were very accommodating at the desk. The registration process was quick and friendly. They arranged for someone to make coffee when I found that it was empty.

They had lovely marble bathrooms, sparse but nice art deco furnishings, and small rooms. There was a terrible problem with clanking radiators in the winter but adequate air conditioning during a May trip. They have a friendly, competent staff. The coffee was not always available as advertised, and no cream for the coffee, just powdered creamer. I'd stay there again. The price in winter is much lower than in May.

This hotel made me feel respected: The staff was polite upon entering the hotel and checking us in. The doorman was always pleasant. Any questions we had were answered showing interest in what we asked and responding to our needs.
