Horrible
30 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

To whom it may concern,

My husband and I booked a stay at the Aqua Terrace Motel last week. I booked the stay through a travel company. They were having a special if you buy 2 nights you get the 3rd night free. I looked at the Aqua Terrace website on line. The rooms looked very nice and it was right on the beach. I also booked a non smoking room.. So before I booked it I called the motel to check if they accept pets. The girl said yes, there is just a $10 a day fee. I said that's no problem. We checked in about 3pm on 7/1/07. The young woman behind the desk was very pleasant and attentive to our needs. She gave us our keys and we went to our room. Upon opening the door to our room, there was a smell of stale cigarettes. I turned to my husband and said I requested a non smoking room. We just blew it off; we were only staying until Wednesday.

There was an air conditioning unit in the window making an awful noise. The paint on the bathroom and closet doors was chipping and falling off. The closet smelled like something died in it. So we went outside to check out the pool area. There were 3 grills on the far deck that were so disgustingly dirty, I would never have cooked my food on them. There were people swimming in the pool with their clothes on. Jean shorts, tee shirts and socks.

Later that same day I was walking into my room and a lady stopped me. She was walking with a toddler and smelled of alcohol, which wasn't a surprise because she had her drink in her hand. She asked me if I had animals in the room? I said yes. She said well did you let the front desk know because there's a $10 fee. I said yeah and... She said well I’m the manager. I said okay, they already know. I booked though a travel co. and you can't pay for the fee on line so I was going to pay on the day I check out. She said well just make sure you do. I closed the door because if I had stood there any longer I would have lost it. I don't think that I needed to be talked to like a 5 year old. She was very rude and unprofessional. She never gave me her name, but she was a medium size woman with blond hair.

Later that night my husband and I got ready for bed. At 3am my husband got up to go to work. He opened the door to the bathroom and moved the shower curtain. As he did, a cockroach went running on the floor. He ended up killing it. He put the water on in the shower to let it temper for about 1 minute. The tub was already filling up with water. By the time he was done he was calf deep in water. And there was hardly any water pressure. Knowing that there were cockroaches in the room, I packed up all of our belongings, because I didn't want them to get into any of our stuff.

I told him I was going out to look for another hotel because this one is just disgusting and very unclean. While looking in the phone book for a hotel my cat started acting weird like he was hacking up a fur ball. And they were all scratching themselves. Well my cats are all indoor cats. There was no way they had fleas prior to staying at this motel. By 11am I had found another hotel. I packed all our stuff and animals in the truck and left.

At around 4pm that same day my husband and I went back to the hotel to get our money back that we paid. Once again the young woman at the desk was very helpful and she was willing to give us our full refund, but because we booked it through a travel agent, she said we have to go through them. Just as she was finishing up the rude blond woman from the night before, and a guy she was with asked what was going on and my husband told her, and before he was finished answering them a questioned that they asked, they both walked away, while saying stay somewhere else then. We have never been treated so rudely. All my pets ended up with fleas and my 3 year old cat ended up with a bronchial infection. The vet bills alone cost over $250. I would never recommend this motel to anyone, not even my worse enemy.

Horrible
48 year old male with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

The shower hardly had any water coming out. The carpet was old and dirty in the room. The physical building is old and needs work. The pool was not heated. We sneezed due to dust in the room. The door was not closed tight, there was an A/C unit in window. The commode clogged during our stay. There were cigarette butts outside premise. On the deck, trash overflowed and was not emptied.
