Talk about getting the most bang out of your bucks! The Aqua Coconut Plaza is a hotel that I'd recommend to my close friends and family.
I had average expectations given the reviews I read about this specific Waikiki Hotel. When I got there early on my arrival date, we were allowed to check-in about 2-3 hours before we were supposed to without any problems or questions. In addition, my special requests were honored without me having to ask or pay more. Our room was better than I expected. The hotel is 4 blocks away from the Waikiki Beach. This place it truly centralized. The hotel staff was great and friendly, especially the morning and afternoon shifts. We will miss them!
Though the old hotel building could use some obvious refurbishing a bit and though the fire alarm went off during our first night there, it's all good. Other than those two little things, our stay at this hotel was nothing but fabulous.
I had a better experience at this hotel than some top-rated hotels that I've stayed at in the past simply because of the cozy feel and the wonderful service that makes this hotel a great gem in the heart of Waikiki. We loved the kitchenette in the room and the lanai that overlooked the river / mountains. The free continental breakfast was a cool touch and the hotel concierge was a total peach. We shall miss her, too! If you're looking for a nice, yet affordable, down-to-earth hotel, The Aqua Coconut Plaza in Waikiki should be on the top of your list!
