After viewing photo's on website I expected a nice 3 star Asian inspired

room. After checking in I found A very shabby unatractive room.

Furniture was worn, tiles were cracked and rust surrounded bathroom

sink. I checked out after 2 days.

This is a smaller (93 rms I think) hotel and has a nice feel about it. We stayed for a week and loved to eat the continental breakfast out in the garden area. It is a little older, but was very clean and appears to have been renovated fairly recently. The location was great because you can easily walk to restaurants, shopping, the beach, and yet it is also easy to access with your car. Park at the public parking in the hotel next door--it was only $12 a day. The beach is 2 blocks (short blocks). Request a room that doesn't face Kuhio street, because it is a little noisy. We had a great vacation at the bamboo!

I am very likely to return to the Aqua Bamboo and Spa.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

40 year old male with a economy budget, traveling for leisure

[POSTED NOVEMBER 4, 2007]

The Aqua Bamboo is on a very busy and noisy street. It is nice, overall, and you can get discounts to about $75 per night. Just search on-line.

We are staying in a privately-owned condo in the hotel (room 302) and would not recommend this to anyone. The carpet is stained and smelly, the AC leaks all over the Lanai, and the bathroom sink is plugged up. The owner doesn't take a lot of care with cleaning, and the refrigerator was not working when we got in for our month-long stay. We are paying $1,875 for the month. The owner did drop off a new dorm-style refrigerator within three days of us letting her know that the built-in one wasn't working, but she HAD to have known that it was not operational before we started our month stay.

The location of the hotel is only a block from the beach (and to the Duke webcam that you can find on the Internet.) The bus runs right up the street and there is a lot to do within walking distance.

Besides being somewhat old, the hotel is in good condition and if you stay up in the higher floors, I imagine the road noise is not so bad.

They have one hour free happy hour on Thursdays that is not so bad!

And, the staff seems friendly.

The hotel seems to be full on Fridays and Saturdays, but has open rooms during the week.

Oh, and they have a ground-level pool and small hot tub, only big enough for one to two couples at a time.

The hotel has a good location. It is a little pricey for not having any accommodations besides a bed to sleep in and a very small pool.

I am not likely to return to the Aqua Bamboo and Spa.
I would not recommend it to friends.
