Our stay at the Silver King hotel over the New Year Holiday was disappointing. Some of the rooms in the hotel are privately owned and some are the typical hotel rooms. Our particular assigned room was one that was privately owned. While the room was recently renovated and aesthetically gorgeous, the room was terribly constructed. Things continued to fall apart while we were there. It looked as if the construction was done by amateurs.
The bigger problem we faced was with the cleaning staff. First off, they do the bare minimum. It definitely was not 4 star service. Floors and kitchen counters were never cleaned. The bed sheets did not appear to have been changed the entire week.
On the day before we left, we came back to our room to find we were locked out. The hotel had screwed up our departure date and had locked us out of our room. When we got the mistake fixed, we got back to our room to find that all of our unopened food had been taken from our room. Keep in mind that our belongings are still all over the room so it was obvious that we had not checked out yet. The cleaning staff had taken it. When confronted about stealing our food, the cleaning staff culprit lied to management (they were hiding the food behind the cleaning cart as we stood in front of them). Management then decided it would be most appropriate to reprimand them in front of us. It was highly inappropriate the way it was handled. Hotel management during all of our problems showed very little care.
Overall, we were very disappointed. For what was paid for the hotel, we expected much more. We will not be returning.
