The Ant Street Inn in downtown Brenham, offers the comforts of a boutique hotel with the elegant decorating and friendliness of a fine country inn. Built as a mercantile building in 1899, the building is now a showplace in the middle of downtown's shopping, restaurant, and theatre district. Fifteen luxury guest rooms with twelve foot ceilings, exposed brick walls, stained glass, polished wood floors, and private baths have been furnished in the most interesting collection of elegant antiques. Owners, Tommy and Pam Traylor traveled country-wide to locate the inn's furnishings including magnificent full and half canopy beds, each draped in rich fabrics, which serve as focal points in the rooms. All rooms have elegant linens with triple sheeting, cable television, and now Wireless High Speed Internet. Hair dryers, irons, and bath amenities are furnished in each room. Many rooms feature tubs for two. Blue Bell Ice Cream is complimentary. Guests enjoy walking one block to interesting shops, restaurants, or live theatre. A full restaurant is open 3 meals a day except for Wednesday evening. Sitting on the back veranda in rocking chairs and enjoying the sound of the fountain in the garden is a relaxing passtime. The inn's garden is a parklike retreat.
