Official Hotel Information
The Andrews Hotel is a charming, European-style hotel centrally located in San Francisco's renowned theater and shopping districts. Our small size -- just 48 guestrooms -- allows our friendly and courteous front desk staff to give you individual attention. Citysearch Voted the Andrews hotel 'Best hotel staff' 2006. The building at 624 Post Street was completed in 1905 just before the great earthquake on April 18, 1906. Because it was built as a Class a structure, completely supported by a steel frame, it suffered little damage. However, the fire that engulfed the city after the quake did some damage to the lobby and restaurant.. After being repaired the following November for $38,000, the building assumed its planned role as the Sultan Turkish Baths, a gentlemen's bath and relaxation establishment. The large electric sign on the roof announced its arrival on Post Street. As a full service business, the Sultan Baths featured a restaurant on the ground floor. The next level housed a salt-water plunge, tiled hot room, and a rubbing room. On the third floor one could find a barber, chiropodist, and a bar and lounge. The fourth and fifth floors featured small sleeping rooms and a steam room. Finally, on floors six and seven, one could rent one of several small apartments, each containing a bedroom and a parlor. Rumor has it that, at one time, the establishment had a rather unsavory reputation..

This Queen Anne Victorian structure was erected in 1905 as the opulent Sultan Turkish Baths. Two decades later the Baths closed, and the entire building was remodeled into a boutique hotel. Intimate guestrooms feature lovely floral motifs, unique architectural features, and fresh flowers. The celebrated Fino Restaurant features traditional Italian cuisine prepared in an open kitchen and served in a romantic and intimate atmosphere.

the hotel was nice BUT some rooms (the King Rooms) have the tiniest bathroom. You need to be an acrobat to sit on the toilet (blocked by the sink). If the soap falls on the floor while showering, most likely you would not have enough room to bend and pick it up (shower is extremely small).
The Andrews Hotel is a small friendly hotel with incredible customer service and attention to all the details. The location is the best in San Francisco. Our room was very clean and the breakfast on each floor was an amazing extra bonus. Overall, w

While reading online reviews of the Andrews Hotel, I came across characterizations like "best kept secret" and "out of the way location". And there seems to be some truth to that - the taxi driver who picked me up at the airport said "Anders Hotel?...

Location is central to the trolley and the city. Comfortable, homey, and clean. The attached restaurant was a bonus after long days trekking around the city; food and wine better than average. Just what we needed. We saved money by using the Andrews Hotel, then splurged on really nice restaurants and a quaint B&B in Napa.
Since our stay, we've recommended the hotel twice to other vacationers, and their thoughts were the same as ours. If you don't need to be pampered and surrounded by luxury, then try the Andrews.
