Anchorage Inn Resort - Page 1

We like the Anchorage Inn enough to vacation there once a year.

The good: The view from the balcony is fantastic (I recommend reserving a 4th floor room). You look out over Silver Lake harbor watching boats come and go and the sun set over the sound in the evening (the balconies are shared with all your neighbors on the same floor, so if you're big on privacy, this is not for you). There are lots of activities, including sunset sailboat rides, parasailing, charter fishing, boat trips to other islands, boat rentals, scooter rentals, bike rentals, etc., so you can be as busy as you choose. In the off season, you will have miles of beach practically to yourself. There are many great restaurants, several of which serve fresh fish caught that morning by the Ocracoke fishing boats.

The bad: The beds are mediocre at best and the cleanliness of the rooms is average or worse. Being so remote, grocery prices are pretty high, so bring what you need with you.
