Good
In Janurary we had a family emergency in Wilmington and had to find rooms on short notice. The staff was such a help and the rooms very clean. For a older Hotel it is kept up nice and has the best rate in town.

I have a son at UNC Wilmington, so this will be my first time staying at this hotel. I'm sure the owners must know that if they do things right, the chance of having repeat customers will occur. Parents of students at UNCW probably travel to see their kid's every month. Keep this in mind...

My wife and I were having a bad day in Wilmington until we checked into our hotel. The reviews online were poor, but, that was the only place we could afford. When we checked into the hotel, the gentleman at the desk was like a breath of fresh air. He was very courteous and was willing to help. He gave us very detailed directions to the place we were wanting to eat. I would recommend this motel to anyone on a budget. We got more than we paid for!

After the renovations this place has become awesome I'm going to come here every time I come to Wilmington. The pool was great the location was fantastic! Service was good. No idea why these people have written such terrible reviews.

Dirty rooms.
Low lifes & women of questionable character cruising parking lot all night.
Incompetent & rude staff & the owner was even worse.
My husband & I travel for work regularly & we have never reviewed any hotel we have stayed at, but this one - everyone needs to be warned.
Police called on guests next door, per owner's request - banging on their door & yelling about them checking out. Apparently they had the wrong room & scared the guests silly.
Then, their credit card machine went down & their solution was to lock the guests (us included) out of their rooms multiple times so when you went to
the front desk for help they could take your credit card - which they already had made copies of, along with copies of valid ID's - & attempt to use it on their broken machine.
After my husband was locked out for the 6th or 7th time, the front desk told him "not to worry, we'll take care of the credit card at checkout" - but that was not to be.
At 3 am in the morning, someone came pounding on our door & then started phoning our room. Now, we have no idea who this stranger is & we were frightened to say the least. At 6 am, the same thing happened & when it was light we went down to the desk to complain. Turns out, the owner had instructed the staff to do this so he could once again get our credit card from us - the card he already had made copies of.
At that point we gave up & left to find other accommodations as we hadn't slept all night & had a 10 hour work day ahead of us & a 12 hour drive back home.
America's Best Value's corporate office was contacted & they could care less.
On a final note, American Express has gotten involved, as after many days later, they put an unauthorized charge on account using the number they had copied down the day we checked in. Seems they didn't need our card after all.
Worse hotel experience of our lives. Be aware & steer clear.

Nice weekend. I stayed there on July 4th weekend with my children and husband. The pool was great, location was great, and the rooms were fairly clean but could have been alittle better. I love rooms with the microwaves and tiny refridgerators, because it helps when you have kids. Other wise I would stay there again anytime....
I am somewhat likely
to return to the Americas Best Value Inn and Suites Wilmington.
I might recommend it to friends.

I have stayed in many hotels in my travels but this is among the worst of the worst. We looked at other hotels in the area for cheaper but unfortunatly we choice this one. the room was smaller but that was the least of the problems. after driving for 14hrs we needed sleep. we were staying for 2 nights. the first problem was the room was not cleaned there was a pair of boxers left hanging on the back of the bathroom door. the manager offered to give us another room. After the lights went out the roaches came out as well. 2 of them that we saw. we did not stay any longer than that. they did refund our money. would not recommend this to anyone. We were hoping to find a hotel to come to once a month. but it won't be this one

Although I have a "value club card" for this hotel, I will not be using it again.
The person who handles the reservations is polite, but was unable to give simple information on how much I was being charged. I was quoted a price for a group of rooms and told it was the price for "both nights" and that I would get my value club discount on the package. When I called to confirm the day the guests were arriving, I was told I would not be given a discount because I had too many rooms. One would expect to get a discount for having more rooms rather than not getting one for having many rooms.
Also, the price for "both nights" was for each night. I ended up having to cancel some rooms, and was completely unable to get an answer as to how much I was going to be charged for fewer rooms. I still do not know how much they are planning on charging me, and I could not get through on the telephone today. It is priced like a mid-range, not budget hotel, and should have more knowledgeable staff on the phones.
