Upon arrival, which was in late afternoon, our rooms were not ready and the room they tried to assign us had the cloths rack torn off of the wall, and the smoke detector was not functional due to the battery door being open and the battery missing. There was old mattress on the landing, and the room was not clean. The second room they assigned us was better, however, the entry door had numerous large dents and pry marks on it around the door latch. I was in a hurry to get to my meeting and failed to verify the rate before signing the charge tag. Later that night I checked the receipt and discovered that they had charged me rack rate, not the rate they advertised for the function I was attending. When I spoke to the desk clerk he stated that I would have to speak to the manager. Each time I tried to contact the mgr. during my stay he was not available. I left with the opinion that they had not dealt with me in a proper business fashion and even if I had not been over charged the property was not worth the value.
