Good
We stay here whenever we are in Des Moines, which is once or twice a year. The rooms are basic: Older decor, "window box" AC, nothing fancy, well used. But they are clean, quiet (in terms of outside noise), and the beds are comfy. And they have free ...

31 year old female with a economy budget, traveling for leisure
My mother is traveling across country. I book her hotels each day for her next stop. Today's stop was Des Moines so I booked the America's Best Inn at Johnston-Des Moines. Upon arrival, the front desk did not have her reservation. After phone calls back and forth and me verifying her reservation online, it was discovered that the hotel manager has exclusive access to email on property and leaves every day at 1 pm. So any bookings made after 1 pm for that night's stay will never be received by the front desk workers. The only reason this hotel gets a 3 and not a 1 for what is clearly ridiculous management is because the front desk clerk was trying hard to work with my mom to get her into a room and with the same rate as what was booked.

I've stayed at this hotel many times and have found the rooms to be shabby, but clean. Its perfectly adequate for an overnight stay. They have a nice indoor pool, but lacking for gym equipment. They offers a stamp card for free nights stay.

Mediocre
Hotel is in need of major update. Floor had stains. Wallpaper was peeling off wall. Chair in suite had stains. Overall, wouldn't recommend unless last resort.
