This is a beautiful hotel just a few steps from the beach. Beautifully maintained and refurbished, the rooms are wonderful, the staff fantastic and a great place to stay here.

Excellent
Whoever wrote the previous review about this hotel was incorrect. Amelia Hotel was never at Main Beach - it is at Seaside Park beach about 2 miles south of main beach, near Sliders Restaurant. It not only is still there, but they renovated all of...

We were disappointed when we arrived to find that the hotel was across the street from the beach, and from our balcony the view was spoiled by buildings, street lights and electrical wires. Also, as stated by another reviewer, the traffic noise drowned out the ocean. So if you're looking for a romantic oceanside room/balcony, this isn't the hotel for you. If you check out their website, it is misleading/confusing, stating both "on the beach" and "86 steps from the beach." What would YOU infer from the name "Amelia Hotel on the Beach"?
Also, they proudly claim on the website to have "handicap rooms." Well, not only is the term "handicap[ped]" offensive to people with disabilities (which a good web designer should know), but their accessible rooms did not meet ADA guidelines, with the electronic keys too high on the wall for a person in a wheelchair. But we must give them credit for trying, I suppose.
Issues: on our floor (2nd), for 2 days we were there the pop machine was always empty, the washer/dryer was broken, and the ice machine was out of ice. We also came home at 7pm from a day out to find our room in the same condition as we left it; so a housekeeping supervisor had to come do a quick cleaning of the room while we waited on the balcony. And when we checked out, we were not asked the typical and expected "How was your stay?" (maybe they were having a bad weekend)
Not that the Amelia Hotel "at the Beach" is awful -- far from it. Our room was spacious and clean, and the large LCD TV was nice. The double-sheet the bed, and the jaccuzi tub was a nice touch. Overall, not a bad deal for the money. I would recommend more for families than couples.

The pool area was pretty basic -- but who needs the pool with the beach just across the street? The balcony room was nice, and ocean view was okay but traffic noise prevented hearing the surf. TV and bed and room overall were fabulous. Housekeeping was not quite 100% (they didn't replace empty TP until asked), but they were fine. Breakfast beats the usual "continental" by far, but not quite as far as the Hampton Inn's breakfasts. Overall we had a wonderful time and would stay there again or recommend it highly to anyone travelling to the area.
The Amelia Hotel was at Main Beach

Horrible
The Amelia Hotel was at Main Beach Park, but I feel anyone should know it's been demolitioned for new condos across from the Main Beach Putt Putt. It was a great inexpensive place to stay, but not anymore.

We stayed at the Amelia Hotel and were surprised at the overall care by the staff to our visit. Not just at check-in but the the entire 4 days. Something we did not expect from a non-resort staff.
The rooms apparently were just redone and are great. I truly enjoyed the HD TV (football game) and the rooms were roomy, well maintained and very comfortable. We had a balcony room which I recommend as it did add that one little item that enhanced the stay. Not to mention we could just step out our door to watch the ocean and have a drink.
They do offer a nice continental breakfast, coffee all day, but no bar. However just across the street is an island restaurant and bar that is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and drinks. With indoor seating or out right on the beach which the kids liked. I liked the bar and sitting under the palms... a classic beach ad like the Corona beer ads.
Overall I give this hotel a 3 thumbs up and recommend it to anyone for both quality and price. Great location to the beach. all the other hotels are further away.

We enjoyed our stay at Amelia Hotel and Suites. The hotel was very nice and clean, the staff were all friendly and helpful and it was close to the beach (just a very short walk), dining and shopping! Would recommend it to anyone.
