My sister and I went to the Amara Resort and Spa just before Thanksgiving to celebrate her milestone birthday, and we had such a wonderful time! Every staff member we encountered was pleasant and went above-and-beyond to ensure that we had great service.
From the valet folks, to the front desk and concierge, to the spa staff...we were always greeted with a smile!
We appreciated the little extra things they did to make our stay enjoyable. We liked the evening wine-tasting, the constant acknowledgment of my sister's birthday (including a bottle of champagne in the room!), the help in finding great hikes and restaurants - then shuttling us to/from dinner!
The location is perfect for anyone looking to stay near the action - right around the 179/89A intersection in the heart of Uptown Sedona, and close enough to drive to other restaurants and hiking.
The room was very nice - and the overall appearance of the resort and spa make you feel like you're in New York, Chicago, or San Fran vs. Sedona (ie, no cheesy Arizona decor everywhere you turn!).
The spa was magnificent...we highly recommend booking service with them! It made for a lovely girls' weekend!

I took a scenic drive North on I-17 from Carefree Highway, which within an hour or so kindly revealed Sedona's Red rock vistas in a majestic aura that is purely Sedona. As I rolled my windows down, I could smell the pinion, pine and local flowers, totally a trip for the senses...
Winding through scenic highway 89A into downtown Sedona, you will notice a variety of gift shops, eateries, coffee houses, cantinas and Red Rock souvenir shops which are great for shopping. Remember to take a jeep, hummer or helicopter tour while your in Sedona, it's a great adventure. Oh, and dont forget your camera, and plenty of memory cards.
When arriving at Amara Resort & Spa you will notice from the drive down the gorgeous Red Rock vistas where the resort sits prominently on the secluded banks of Oak Creek.
As the friendly driveway attendant named Peter greeted me with a smile at the entrance, he prepared my luggage for check in and my key to Sedona's stylish resort. The contemporary decor and Zen-inspired style immediately welcomed me to Amara Resort & Spa.
After checking in, I strolled directly to Amaras AAA Four Diamond dining room, called the Gallery on Oak Creek, named so for the local fine art that adorns the restaurant lobby and walls. At that moment, the Chef de Cuisine and his culinary team we're preparing the evenings flavorful high Senoran cuisine. I ordered a Prickly Pear Margarita and enjoyed the kitchens aroma at the bar.
Interestingly enough, the resort's dining room draws on flavorful influences from around the world and is cleverly paired with Amara's Award Winning Wine Cellar. I arranged for a sunset dinner and it proved to be a wonderful experience. I had the Scottish Salmon and finished with a crème brule.
After dinner I strolled the beautiful grounds of Amara with a glass of wine and watched in awe as the stars danced, the water flowed and the fire place radiated into the evening sky... What a night!
Upon turning in, I couldn't believe the comfort of the bedding and mattress in my Creekside Suite. I have to say that I had the best nights rest in a long time.
Overall, I would say that I experienced the most impeccable level of hospitality and service at Amara Resort & Spa, which in my opinion sets the standard for surrounding Sedona Resorts with an entirely new concept of hospitality and decor.
Do your senses a favor and discover this unique Sedona, Arizona Resort, which is truly custom-tailored to you as an individual - Conveniently located in the perfect Red Rock setting of Sedona, Arizona.
