We did not get to stay in the hotel so we can't tell you anything about how clean the hotel is.
However, we do wish to warn everyone not to make reservations here. We made reservations here on January 17 for March 12-16. When I found a place closer to Big Bend, I called The Alpine Inn the next day (Jan. 18) and cancelled my reservations. I called out the four reservation numbers I had been given and verified that they would all be cancelled to which the reservations personnel verbally verified they all would be cancelled.
What a surprise we faced when we got home from our vacation and found that The Alpine Inn had charged us over $200 on our credit card on March 12. When we called to ask the manager to reverse the charges, he claimed we were charged because we were a "no show", that I had never called to cancel the reservations, and that they would not reverse the charges.
Our credit card company is temporarily removing the charges while they investigate, plus our lawyer is writing them a letter of debt dispute so hopefully this will all be resolved.
However, I wanted to warn any of you going to Alpine not to stay at The Alpine Inn, and recommend all of you learn from my mistake and get a cancellation number when you ever cancel a reservation. I have never had this happen before so didn't think about needing such a number.
