The Alpenhof recently double booked our hotel room, it was only by mere happenstance that we discovered this error the day before our arrival.
The hotel issued us a confirmation number when we booked the room months earlier, but the confirmation meant nothing to them when we tried to confirm the reservation the day before our arrival. Moreover, aside from the confirmation number (which is enough for any reputable hotel), we also had the hotel employee's name, the date we actually reserved the room, the quoted price and even the specific room number for the reservation - but to the Alpenhof, all of this was meaningless as they refused to honor our reservation.
We even offered up a potential resolution to the problem that may have satisfied all interested parties (both parties that had reserved the room as well as the hotel itself), but the hotel management refused to cooperate and cited that "we've already wasted enough of our time on this matter". Can you believe it? The hotel screws up and this is their ultimate position?! Truly sad.
We've only stayed at this hotel because of one specific room that exists there. Aside from this one room, the Alpenhof is a substandard hotel especially once you factor in the sheer incompetence of the hotel's management. If a customer cannot rely on the confirmation number issued by a hotel, what else is there?
We will never stay at this hotel again and we urge anyone reading this to seriously consider if it's worth booking an entire vacation around a hotel that does not honor it's own policies and obligations.
