48 year old female with a luxury budget, traveling for leisure

I loved the hotel! The decor and amenities were extraordinary. We were welcomed into the room with a stereo softly playing a smooth jazz station. The room was furnished with high-end televisions and stereo, and the beds and linens were comfortable and luxurious. The design was what I would describe as funky contemporary, very chic yet comfortable, and offered a great view from the windows overlooking Randolph Street. We were given Starbucks gift cards upon check in. The hotel was in a great location in the heart of the theater district, and we were able to walk just a few blocks to see a play and eat dinner. The hotel had a free manager's wine reception in the lobby. There was also a free continental breakfast offered, but we missed it due to incorrect times given to us by a staff member. We were also not given our breakfast vouchers at check in. However, this was a minor issue compared to the big picture. We look forward to staying there again, and we can even bring our dog with us if we so choose because the hotel is pet-friendly. In fact, if you are missing your pet they will supply you with a pet goldfish during your stay upon request. And even though they allow pets, there was no indication of any pet odors or damage. I was very impressed!

This hotel made me feel important: The Allegro staff gave each of us a Starbucks gift card upon check in. We were invited to a late afternoon manager's wine reception. Our room was welcoming and inviting, and was stocked with fluffy robes for our use. There was a concierge available in the lobby for guests' use, but we didn't need his services as we had already made reservations for theater and restaurants before our arrival.

I am very likely to return to the Allegro Chicago.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

I would like more time ahead for making reservations. We should be able to learn how many months ahead to make reservations.

This hotel made me feel pampered: They left a nice note welcoming us back and left cookies and bottled water.

I am very likely to return to the Allegro Chicago.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

One of the best hotel options in the loop. Fun, positive energy, decent price ... it's a cool place. If staying more than 1-night (and it's not the dead of winter), prefer being closer to Lake Michigan.

The hotel was old fashion, the rooms lacked the space and the comfort found in newer hotels. The location and the price were very good however.

I am not likely to return to the Allegro Chicago.

It is very conveniently located. I was very impressed right from the entrance. The rooms were a bit small, but comfortable. I enjoyed the complimentary wine hour every day!

This hotel made me feel sophisticated: The doormen were always there to open the front doors for us. The decor inside was very impressive.

I am very likely to return to the Allegro Chicago.

They provide outstanding service. A light bulb had burned out in the bedside lamp. It was replaced by the time we returned from dinner and they followed up the next day to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. The rooms were small, but the hotel is in an older, downtown Chicago building, so we were prepared for that. The concierge provided great restaurant recommendations from a cheap place for breakfast to a celebration dinner and the doormen were always quick to hail a taxi for us. The location is great, near the rail line from the airport and in the heart of the theatre district.

This hotel made me feel important: I had never stayed with them before, yet they treated me like a weekly guest. They greeted me by name when I called the desk. Even when I was dressed in jeans for a walk in Grant Park, the concierge treated me like every other customer. He listened to my needs.

I am very likely to return to the Allegro Chicago.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

We have always enjoyed our many stays at this hotel, but there have been few glitches. The elevators can be a bit slow. For patrons of Chicago's Lyric Opera, it is the closest place to stay. Generally the Kimpton's program has brought some special perks.

This hotel made me feel welcome: We found treats and a nice note in our room. A friendly maid gave us turn-down service, including candy and the radio turned on softly to classical music.

I am very likely to return to the Allegro Chicago.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

The location was great to my corporate office. The beds were truly disappoint uncomfortable and the linens were thin and of a low quality. The lobby, the hotel bar and the restaurant were nice and the atmosphere was cool. The rooms themselves were very small and I felt that way even though I had a suite. The staff was friendly. If only they could have better beds and better linens, that would make a difference.

I am somewhat likely to return to the Allegro Chicago.
I might recommend it to friends.

We stay here because it is the closest to Lyric Opera of Chicago and we like the rooms and lobbies which were redone from a very old hotel. The staff is very friendly and we have extra perks because we belong to a Kimpton Club, such as welcome goodies delivered to the room while we are out and a turn down service. We can get a good rate due to Lyric Opera and other special rates. Guests should book about four months ahead if possible to get the best rates. Only three elevators serve the hotel and they are often slow or crowded. Be prepared to be patient. It’s a good place to stay if you are theatre bound. There are good restaurants nearby, especially Petterino’s.

This hotel made me feel pampered: We had fruit and sparkling water delivered to our room while we were out with a welcome note from the management and was given a turn down service.

I am very likely to return to the Allegro Chicago.
I would definitely recommend it to friends.

It has a very convenient location. It has small, but comfortable rooms. It has a daily wine hour which was a nice touch.

I liked the hotel. I had a little bit of a problem in the restaurant as it was closed for a party but they closed half of it after I had sat down and started eating. The service dropped after the party started. The food took a long time. I was especially impressed with the person who made the dinner reservations for us. She was extremely knowledgeable about the restaurants in the area.
