26 year old with a moderate budget, traveling for leisure

I don't even want to give a 1 because my experience was THAT bad. When we came to check in (early Saturday afternoon), they told us then that they had overbooked and that we would be moved to a hotel (their sister property) 25 minutes away. And if you've ever been to vegas, 25 minutes by mapquest equals about an hour commute on the strip.

The manager lied to us multiple times about the availability of rooms closer to our original destination (he claimed all the hotels around us were booked, but when we called, they all had available rooms) as well as the quality and pricing of our 'compensated' rooms(he claimed they were nicer and more expensive, but when we called they were priced significantly lower).

He also claimed that they had to relocate about 60 guests the night before (Friday) because of overbooking. How they managed to overbook 60 rooms/people the night before and God knows how many on Saturday I have no idea. We made our reservations 2 weeks ago and other people who reserved even earlier (including members of a wedding that was taking place AT their hotel that had made reservations a month in advance) were being booted.

We asked for other alternatives because the option of an hour commute to and from the strip was NOT sufficient and completely out of our travel time capability and we were completely denied. They claimed the only alternative available was to take their 'compensated' offer of their sister property. We even offered to pay the original amount we would have paid to stay at their place if they would compensate the difference at another hotel and was denied that as well. Any compromise we gave to them was completely dismissed.

Later, when we tried to call the general manager, we were re-directed to his voice mail that had been disconnected.

I have never experienced customer service at a hotel or anywhere else as horrible as this. If possible, I would have given this a establishment a -10 as a 0 is too high. Because of this whole ordeal, we ended up staying at a hotel that cost 2.5x as much because we had to book it 5 minutes before we checked in.
