I was pleased with my stay at the Alexandrine Balladins. It's hard to get an accurate review on these sites but after days of research I took a chance on booking this hotel based on the only review it had and it turned out okay. The staff do speak adequate English and the hotel is very conveniently located within a 60 second walk of the metro line 13 liege station (very convenient). It is on a primarily residential street and my room was very very quiet with the exception of the crying baby on the first night. The room was average paris size - about 11'x10' and a small bathroom with a standup shower another 4'x5'. It had a very small flat panel tv with 8 stations including CNN in english (at least there was one station in english). There is no a/c but they did give me a fan upon request - they were also able to provide an iron. Breakfast surpassed my expectations because it was included - upon arrival each morning I was greeted with a fresh croissant, roll and coffee, tea or hot chocolate plus a very small orange juice. They had two cold cereals to choose from, two cheese, yogurt on your table and canned fruit cocktail. My room was not smokey, did not smell and was clean with the exception of the mold in the bathroom which was moderate to bad. I asked them to clean this and they did but it still did not get rid of all of it. All of the staff were extremely pleasant except for one very rude middle eastern french man who works nights during the week. His idea to calm down a guest is to scream at them. I'm not sure where or what an internet access point is - I never saw it. I arrived early and was granted an early check in without having to ask. The elevator is tiny but modern and without stairs to it - very easy. There are plenty of shops for toiletries and great discounts in the immediate two minute vacinity. Aside from the mold and one very rude staff member this hotel was really quite exceptional for the price and especially when compared to other reviews of other Paris hotels or the last rude racket I stayed at in Paris for more money.
