Being close to the beautiful Red River was great!! But staying on the little floating dock at the river's edge would have been more comfortable. The AF Hotel Conv Center is the pits. Have you ever seen a chef preparing your food in his slippers and pj's? WOW! The rooms smelled terrible and the humidity in the building was worse than outside. If your children want to see exotic wildlife, by all means STAY here. If you need exercise, STAY here, you'll get plenty running up and down the steps due to the ancient elevators always being on the fritz. OH YEAH, I'm the dude that got stuck in the Elevator! I had only been there for about half an hour. Thank goodness my 8 year old son thought it was funny cause I didnt. I can sight one instance in which a staff member was helpful and that was helping me break out of the ELEVATOR! Read all these reviews and take them to heart. This hotel is so bad that it was becoming amusing. One last thing, STAY OUT OF THE POOL, it will give you cooties.

I refuse to believe this hotel was renovated in 2005. The lobby was decent but thats very deceiving. At first it looks like a decent place to stay, but then you see the accomodations. The rooms were a mess. Nasty. No service what-so-ever. We had to basically beg for clean towels. The staff was very rude. Lizards, roaches, bugs . . . we seen it all! My kids were scared to ride the elevators for the fear of being stuck (as someone in our party WAS). They didn't work 99% of the time anyway! The guest laundry consisted of ONE washing machine & ONE dryer (keeping in mind that there were 3 softball teams staying here at the same time) Walking down the sidewalk at the hotel, my husband actually saw a needle & syringe lying on the ground!!!! I'm not that picky about my accomodations, but this place should be condemned!!

The moment our bus pulled into the EMPTY parking lot should have been a huge red flag! The lobby is deceptively disguised as a nice hotel; however we quickly discovered the reality of this "gem". After climbing 4 flights of stairs(due to the inoperable elevators)we opened the door to our "Hell away from home". Dank, smelly, wet hallways. Rooms that were humid and moldy, bathrooms without doors. Service was lacking, linens were rationed and the "amenities" were nonexistent.I felt like my family was bathing, breathing, and swimming in comtaminants while we were here. After a few days, we began to liken our experience to camping out in the wilderness. I can hardly believe this place isnt condemned. I WOULD NEVER recommend this place to anyone.
This place is the worst of the worst!! My room smelled like it had been hosed down and closed up for 6 months. I would wake up every morning and the sheets and pillows feel damp. The carpet in the hallways were wet and one night we were there it rained and the windows leaked!! One guy that was in my party got stuck in the elevator!! They did not work over 95% of the time. They did not even have inspections posted in the elevators!! Another couple with us checked in their room and there was no TV and the bathroom was missing the door! YES THE DOOR!! It was an act of congress to get towels and washcloths. Another couple returned to thier room one night to find a lizard in their BED!!! I am from out of state so I'm not sure how things work in LA but I do know that if the health department walked in this place it would be closed down for a long time!! When we finally got out of there and got home I felt like my family and I should go have shots!!!
I have never left a review about anywhere I have stayed but no one should have to pay money to stay in a nasty place like this. The party I was with included about 60 people and I think they would all agree.
I was here with the Dixie World series. What a dump. We were out of state and made reservations on someone from Louisiana's suggestion. Boy did they do us wrong. This place reeks, big time. Dirty - No Service - Staff was horible.
All hotel staff were rude, elevators always broken, building was hot and smelled bad, entire motel dirty. Money was taken from my room by motel staff, no appology from manager, just a smirk. Don't let the amenites listing fool you, the Restaurant, bars, and gift shop are never opened or staffed. I would NEVER stay here again, and hate that I had to stay this time.

Mediocre
The food in the restaurant is beyond bad. I ordered a pasta with pesto sauce - the pesto sauce was cream of mushroom soup. The service was really poor, It's interesting because the employees were friendly, but the laziest people I've ever seen. In...

Horrible
If you are traveling to Alexandria, I highley DO NOT recommend this hotel as your choice of stay. I visited the hotel for a few days in April 07 for a business trip. After the second night, I realized the unclean sheets in part of thebed that I did ...
