Don’t ever live in this apartment complex. While living there for a total of 1 year and 6 months I had numerous problems. My next door neighbor was evicted after his public drug use and the fact that he defecated in the fountain. When he left they found a gun in the apartment and several bags of cocaine. A hooker lived there for about a year before being evicted. I arrived home late one even to the sounds of the hooker having sex in the hallway. The office was broken into as well as several cars. The parking is reserved for corporate units and long term residents are required to park in the street. During the Rodeo they allowed people using corporate units to use parking spots for their trailers. My Electric bill was $300 plus a month for 600 square feet. They charged $0.10 over the actually price per kilowatt hour. No dishwashers no garbage disposal units in any of the apartments. There were only two washers and dryers for all residents of the complex. I leaned against my bedroom wall and my hand sunk in to the wall which was filled with black mold and mildew. The paint was the only thing holding the wall together. Used condoms were left on the courtyard grounds and in the fountain. My apartment was flea infested and I didn’t have an animal. Window units in the apartments only blew hot air….except for the corporate units which they made sure had A/C. The building is falling apart and has a flooding problem in which trash floats from the back side of the property through the courtyard, pass my front door, and out the front gate. Manager/Owner uses fowl language with residents. The plumbing in the kitchen took two days to fix meanwhile the apartment upstairs was draining their waste water on to my kitchen floor. If you think you would like living in Darfur than this apartment complex is perfect for you.

The black mold, mildew, and rat dropping were the good things about living at afton gardens. First of all when I moved in they told me they would put in a new a/c THAT NEVER HAPPENED !! they also said they would have the carpet change before I moved in THAT NEVER HAPPENED !! Instead they gave me a cheap throw rug that looked like it was used as throw cloth from the maint. shop to put over a bleach stain the size of a buick in my living room!! everytime I pulled out a drawer weather in the kitchen or bathroom the front of the drawer would pull away from the body of the drawer. I complained about the a/c for over a year and they put one in the bedroom after I told them I wasent going to renew my lease. The a/c in the bedroom was placed on an old cabinet door from the outside and would leak non-stop onto my bed not to mention waking up to all kinds of bugs crawling around my body cause they didnt seal around the a/c unit through the window...Not to mention I actually caught someone looking through the crack around the a/c after showering!!! PURVE...I would say it was the owner but I would be lying. Parkings imposible they have trailers and campers parked in all the spots! At night you better have a tasser or pepper spray or a knife to use, its so dark in the parking lot you'd swear some one was following you.....and usually there was !! I got so sick living there, I cough up black stuff and had a hard time breathing! I went to the doctor and he determined it was due to all the crap like the mold rats air quality etc!! The owner and manager tried to hold me to my lease they were like I want to see chest x-rays and blood work I was like WTF!!! I paid my rent early every month and never complained except for the obvious and they wanted to treat me like that!! I said well its as easy as My File from the Doctor and a court date!! Anyways if you think living in a horror movie is up your alley...give them a try. I just pray you make it out alive!!! BTW I think the owner is an illegal.

I loved the tranquility of this small very cozy complex the courtyard with the tropical garden and pond was a great idea for travelers to come home from a hard day with transition of relocating or at the office and just sit and relax around the courtyard. The property is so well maintained and up grading in the days I stayed they were doing so many improvements. Management was very kind and always asking "How is everything, Let us know if we can help. This community is very quiet and a great place to stay.

I have to say this place is different from any hotel I have stayed in, It is located inside the 610 loop and walking to the galleria, and uptown park was amazingly refreshing considering this place is rested in between a very upscale neighborhood and seems every one walks in the early morning and evening hours without any hesitation. I truly enjoyed the comforting atmosphere of the whole scenery. The apartment I was in was fully furnished even with wine glasses and all the kitchen housewares needed if I wanted to cook a meal not like a hotel setting, It was very quiet and peaceful and the service was great management was very helpful upon my arrival even offered to take me to get groceries and shopping to get me situated, I thought that was original, And I would most definite advise one who is relocating or even as an intern as I was to try this place. A BIG 10 on this place and the service.

Love this place because the management caters to the tennants needs. It is not the newest facility but you cannot beat the fact that the manager cares about the tennants and their needs. If you are looking for short term leasing this place is great. ...
