Truth and Consequences

We just returned, cutting our thanksgiving vacation short ....Room 301 (tower 4) had other visitors besides us, they were families of german roaches (killed over twenty). Turn lights on, they could be seen running. The front desk sent someone to spray (quickly)..but we asked that they not spray...for fear of allegies/a child....but hopefully after we left....this room was sprayed by professionals....It was a beautifully decorated two bedroom in tower four...which is across the street from check-in. This resort rests above a parking garage levels p2-p4 then the first floor which is where the exercise room and indoor pool is. The indoor pool was closed...but the out door pools were open. The parking is true....tight spaces and hard to find parking spaces in the parking decks...finally we found one on our last day...it was raining. Based on the parking...there were a lot of people staying here. We saw several people pushing their luggage carriers from the tower (1,2,3) across the street to the parking lot that is behind tower four 4 in the rain after checking out. On one day there were empty covered go carts (carried about 8 people)...with drivers standing around..one lady who asked for a ride from behinf tower 4 to tower 1 was told to go and call from the parking garage to get a ride..for these empty covered carts for were those people who were doing a hr and 50 min timeshare showing....the lady walked from the back parking lot behind building four to her room in tower 2 . Note: the drivers were courteous as they instructed her. Most of the time the go carts had two to 3 people in them. They really could use a over head breezeway, especially for the rainy days. I did not notice security at night in parking area behind, tower 4......overall...disliked roaches...loved the room and the jacuzzi tub!

We just returned from a 7 nt stay at the Wyndham Ocean Blvd. and absolutely loved it! We rented our 2 bd/2 bath condo thru "myresortnetwork.com". Believe me I was skeptical and worried that it would look nothing like the pictures, we would be disappointed and stuck in a room/resort that we did not like. The person we rented from emailed me often (with reassurance!) and we even spoke on the phone a few times. Upon check in we were very pleased! Our check in was quite speedy (contrary to other reviewer comments), however we were "swindled" into a time share demonstration for the following morning. We were told that this is "mandatory" since it was our first visit. We later found that to be untrue, we could have declinced! However, it lasted only 20-30 minutes and it was informative (we were curious how the timeshares worked anyways) AND we were "rewarded" with 2 adult tix to Ripley's Aquarium, $25 GC to House of Blues, and $25 GC to T-Bonz (we had our choice of many other venues). So if you don't mind giving 30 minutes of your time, the "rewards" are worth it!
I have mostly only positive remarks for the resort/condo.The decor is "different". Modern, and colorful.Beautiful.The condo was spacious. We had 2 adults and 4 teenagers in our group. The master bath is, by far, the best feature! It was the same size as the master bedroom! The whirlpool bath is amazing! Our unit (tower 3, condo 1024) was side ocean view (like most units) but was still a great view.Since there is no daily maid service, house keeping came in mid-week for a "trash and tidy" visit. Not quite sure what they did tho.You put your own trash out by the door before noon each day. They did no cleaning at all, they did not change the sheets either. As far as i could tell they only changed out our towels and made the beds.Nice, big, plush beach towels were provided in the condo, as was trash bags, dish soap, dishwasher soap, laundry soap, towels sets for 8 people, and small toiletries. The pools were nice (somewhat crowded during the day). Beautiful infitinty pool and zero-entry pool. If you are one to sit around the pool for sun, make sure you get up early! The sun only shines thru the towers (where the pools are located) until like 1:00, after that it's nearly all shaded. Both lazy rivers were nice. Warm water. The pool bar has specials daily, happy hour daily and a DJ plays music. Security continually walks around the pool areas. There is a game room with pool tables, ping pong table and other games. Daily activites are posted for both children and adults! (Water aerobics in the lazy river early a.m. for adults!) Tower 4's pool is very new and also very nice. More sun during the day there and a lot less people. There is a small "down town" 2 blocks to the north of the hotel. Here you can find 2 surf shops, some bars/restuarants, bike rentals and O.D. Pavillion that has an arcade, beach-fron bar and restuarant and music playing continually! We were told that "shaggers" frequent this popular pavillion for contests. Lots of history there with picutures on the walls everywhere!
The only negative things I can speak of are: the elevators! there were only 2 in our tower and you had to wait atleast 5 minutes (or more) to get one. Parking was an issue at times. There is "limited" parking under tower 2 which was always full! Over-flow parking is across the street under tower 4 and when that is full (which it is if you are returning late evening) there is parking in an additional lot behind tower 4. A shuttle is available to and from the garages if you request it, but really the walk isn't that far! They really need to build a walk-over to get to and from tower 4 though. Crossing the blvd can be kinda hectic!
I hope anyone that stays here enjoys their stay as much as we did! All the MANY pros out-weighed the cons, by far! We definitely plan to return to this resort again in the future. Don't hesitate to use "myresortnetwork.com" to search for a rental. It was so worth it!

We got married here....

My husband & I (& our entire families)stayed here last year for our wedding through my parents' timeshare (Fairfield/Wyndham). We got married on the beach in May 2007 in front of our tower (#3)and loved it so much. We came back again for our 1 year wedding anniversary and fell in love with this place all over again. Thank you all very much!

Doesn't feel like home

We received this time share as a gift from my father. We were really concerned about getting the #4 with children. Luckily we had #3 and it was nice. We arrived around 2:45 amd knew check-in wasn't until 4:00 but we got our parking pass and a map and also almost got suckered into a mini-time share meeting.(They refer to it as a way to get comments about the place in exchange for discount tickets). We left and came back around 4:oo and waited in line about 30min. to check in and that was with 3 lines checking in. We were preregistered.
The parking is terrible and mostly you will end up across the street at building #4. Two days later we called down to ask about tickets to an attraction and was put on hold for about 5min. I called back and was told she was too busy helping others to call later. I will say the place is beautiful but service is far from that.

We Will Be Back Next Year!

My Dad booked this vacation for us through his timeshare about a year ago. I've been reading the reviews all along and have feared that it would be horrible and figured Murphy's Law would land me in Tower 4.

Well of course we checked in and found out we were in Tower 4 which as others said is across the street from the beach, and the pool is under construction.

We discovered we really liked Tower 4. It's a little less crowded so we didn't have any issues waiting for elevators. Parking is very congested in Towers 1 and 2 but we had no problem ever finding parking in Tower 4 and we were able to take an elevator straight up to our room.

Accessing the beach was not an issue at all. Take an elevator down to the bottom level of the parking garage, walk down the stairs or pedestrian ramp, cross the street, and there is a path leading to stairs directly to the beach. My husband and I were vacationing with our three children ages 6, 4, and 14 months and we had NO problems crossing the 4 lane road. Ocean Boulevard is NOT a major highway and most of the people driving will slow and/or stop for pedestrians.

I do agree it is a little trickier acessing the pools in the other buildings since you can only access them from the parking garages - but I suppose that keeps random people from wandering in and using them. The temperatures while we were there ranged from the high 60's to the high 70's but we went to the beach daily and all the pools were heated. I didn't like the indoor pool - it was overheated and over-chlorinated and needs some work. But the other pools and lazy rivers were gorgeous.

Yes there were timeshare salesmen running tours throughout the day, but they didn't interfere with our use of the pools and all were polite and friendly.

We received exactly one phone call about attending a meeting about buying a timeshare which we declined and they never called us again.

The only reason I didn't give them full marks for service is that the switchboard for the front desk is not always available and sometimes you have to call them more than once. But when we did get through (our drain was clogged in the second bathtub) they sent someone up right away to fix it.

One little half-truth to be aware of. They say they "offer" wireless internet access. Well it's true it's there, but it's a weak signal and you have to sign up for it and pay for it.

The construction was a non-issue. We could hear only minimal construction noise and they didn't start working until after 8 or 9 am.

The place was decorated in bright funky art deco colors. We did have to move a few of the bigger fake plants to prevent our toddler from eating them but it was no big deal.

They provided us with all the basic necessities like laundry soap, dishwasher and dish soap liquid, a few snacks for the first night and some coffee and hot chocolate, and really NICE soaps and things from Bath & Body Works. And the Jacuzzi in the master bath was HEAVENLY!

All in all the nicest place I've ever stayed!

LOVED it and ready to go back!!

We stayed at the Wyndham Ocean Blvd (had a 2 bdrm oceanview) thru a timeshare rental from April 5th– 12th, Tower 3, 925.

The condos were spacious, nicely laid out and stocked with the necessities. The condo was wonderful, clean and convenient for just about anything we wanted to do. The staff was friendly and willing to help/assist with any request we had. The master bedroom had a kind size bed, dresser, 2 nightstands w/drawers and a closet. The master bath was spacious too with his/her sinks, shower, whirpool tub and separate toilet area. Each sink base had both drawerspace and regular undersink storage. The second bedroom housed 2 doublebeds, nightstand, dresser and closet. The second bath had a door into this bedroom as well as hallway access. It also had storage (drawer and undersink) identical to the master bath but only had one sink and a normal bath/shower combo. If you're getting a timeshare, I would recommend staying in Tower 3, the points are lower but you sure aren't giving anything up on comfort or space.

Resort layout: There are 4 towers—3 are Oceanside and one (Tower 4, or T4) is across the street. They are currently renovating that pool and it looks like it will be wonderful when its completed. There are pools situated between Towers 1 & 2 (Infinity pool) as well as between Towers 2 & 3 (Zero entry) as well as 2 lazy rivers and several hottubs. I know they have an indoor pool and hottub but we never looked for them as we were focused on being outside in the sun. The only drawback to the locations of the pool (between towers 2 & 3 - at least at this time of year) is that they are blocked from getting much sun by the buildings. If you go for spring break, you'll want to set up your command post by the lazy river as it gets full sun all day. The seating by the zero entry pool only got sun during the height of the day.

Parking: We often had a hard time finding a parking space in the garage as there was only one parking garage for all three oceanside towers. It had 2 floors but filled up very quickly. When we left for dinner we often had to park in the overflow parking across the street (under tower 4) which did have two full levels and 2 other partial levels of parking. If those were full as well, there was additional parking in another structure behind this tower by the cottages and I never saw this one full.

Good and Not so Good

We’re a family of four (mid forties, kids aged 8 & 10). Stayed at the Wyndham Ocean Blvd, Myrtle Beach thru a timeshare rental from March 16 – 21st. Overall, we were happy with our stay, with a few complaints

The positives: The rooms were spacious, nicely laid out and stocked with the necessities.

I’m sure the beach is very nice during the summer. We were lucky enough to get a couple of days warm enough for my kids to swim in the ocean, and it was great.

The staff was mostly friendly and helpful.

The negatives:

Resort layout: There are 4 towers—3 are Oceanside and one (Tower 4, or T4) is across the street. Residents of T4 are the outcasts of the resort. We were in T4. All of the pools, amenities and activities are located in the 3 oceanside towers. We were on the 8th floor in T4. Every day, we would have to take the elevator down to the parking garage, navigate past the moving cars, literally run across a four lane highway, navigate through a second garage and take another elevator up to the lobby to get to the beach or pools, etc. There are no garage walkways, no underpasses, overpasses, crosswalks or exterior entrances into the fortress of the Oceanside towers. It’s just you against the traffic. We’re a forty-five year old couple with kids visiting during the slow season. I can’t imagine a senior citizen having to deal with that during the busy summer period with cars coming from every direction.

Parking: We stayed mid-week in March and we often had a hard time finding a parking space in the garage. I assume that people in the 3 oceanside towers had the same problem and the overflow came to the T4 garage. Additional overflow would have to park behind T4 in a 2-level lot. When that fills up, I guess you’re out of luck, ‘cuz there ain’t no parking on the street.

Amenities: The resort has 5 pools altogether-one small indoor (Motel 6 Sized), 2 medium sized outdoor (about what you would expect at a Holiday Inn) and 2 lazy rivers – one about 15 yards long and one about 30 yards long. There are also four small outdoor hot tubs.

We expected cool weather, but figured heated pools would allow the kids to swim. Based upon 3 separate conversations with the hotel staff, we were assured the pools were heated to about 80 degrees. As it turned out, only the larger lazy river was barely warm enough to swim. One of the pools was minimally heated, but our kids toughed it out anyway. They were the only two people I saw in that pool the 5 days we were there.

Also, two of the four hot tubs weren’t heated. What’s the point of a cold hot tub? The result was severe overcrowding at the two working hot tubs and the very small indoor pool. Obviously, the beach is a main focus during the summer. But, the summer only lasts about half of the year. What about the rest of the year?

Wrap Up: I have stayed at other Wyndams in the Wisconsin Dells and Tennessee. My overall impression of Wyndham Resorts is that they are only interested in building and filling rooms. They do not add or enhance amenities as they bring more people to their resorts. The result is overcrowded and possibly unhealthy conditions.
