Beautiful and everything (like the moldings) was real, not fake or copied. The door was thin and it seemed like you could hear people outside easily. I would definitely visit this hotel again. It was beautiful and the service was excellent. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms were very nice. It has a old style charm to it and the furnishings match it as well. I would definitely suggest this to a friend.

From the minute I checked in, everything was excellent. Classy hotel. Close within walking to downtown 5th street restaurants.$27.00 day valet parking. From the moment I arrived. I was greeted at valet and my bags were unloaded and brought to my room. When I was checked in the gal escorted me to my room and showed me where everything was in the room. Rooms are plenty big. Clean too, I would stay here again. Within walking distance to local restaurants, etc. The trolley is right outside the hotel. Bathrooms shampoos, etc are excellent and smell great.

We had always heard about the Westgate. After pricing many other hotels, I was surprised how reasonable the rates were for this landmark hotel. Great views of downtown. Very close to Horton Plaza and the airport. When we arrived, afternoon tea was being served, accompanied by a harpist. A very large and comfortable room with many "old style" features (arm chairs, brass handles on doors, robes, etc.) A live theater production of "Forever Plaid" took place on the 3rd floor in an outside amphitheater (which we could see and hear from our room.) We were not aware that this was available and would have appreciated an e-mail informing us about this option. Overall, a very pleasant experience, and we will stay there again!!

The Westgate is conveniently located in

The Westgate is conveniently located in the heart of downtown San Diego. I purchased a package to The Westgate Hotel off of Luxurylink.com. I ended up getting a fabulous deal on a 4 night package that included Sunday Breakfast Brunch and a 4 course dinner for two at the award-winning Le Fontainebleau, which offers contemporary French cuisine. Upon arrival we were greeted to champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in our room.

We were placed in a Royal Suite, which was amazing. It was on the top floor and had a foyer, living room with a flat screen tv, office area, separate bedroom, large closets, two bathrooms, and a step-out balcony. The master bedroom had a separate marble tub and show with a dual sink marble vanity. The detail of the room was impeccable with crown moldings and lush fabrics.

The Sunday Champagne Brunch at Le Fontainebleau was the best Sunday Brunch we have ever had in our lives. It included more than 50 gourmet items including, fresh omelets, carving roasts, fresh seafood, and freshly made bakery items. There was a grand piano pianist playing throughout the Brunch. Plus the wait staff service was impeccable.

Our four course dinner for two at the award-winning Le Fontainebleau was also fabulous. The grand piano pianist was also present during that meal. Our server was exceptional and the food was delicious.

The only negative (if you can even call it that) was the décor. I prefer more of a modern look. The Westgate is filled with antiques and European inspired décor. If you love antiques, you will love The Westgate.

This is truly a grand old hotel that has been kept up very nicely. The surroundings are beautiful--chandaliers, antiques, etc. The service was superb. The room service food was delicious. The bed was sooo comfortable. No complaints.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at the Westgate. The staff was spectacular, very helpful and polite. The dinning was good and we were central to the Gas Lamp quarter and public transportation. The trolley stops just outside the hotel and the bus one block away. They have a shuttle that will take you to the zoo or Seaworld. Overall it was a wonderful experience.
