The place was nice, large and close to the beach (across the street); however, the traffic noise at night was a quite loud. Bdrm. is at front door, not good if more than one couple stays together and someone comes in late. Full kitchen nice if staying long.

The Turtle Cay is clean &

The Turtle Cay is clean & comfortable place. I don't know why they call this a Resort. It has a great pool area but there are no other activities or amenities or restaurant. It is NOT on the beach. You have to cross the street and go past the other hotels on the beach before you see sand. The biggest disappointment is the lack of a view from our room and no balcony. Many suites have balconies facing the pool courtyard. This is a Time Share and they also own the Clarion accross the street which is where you will find your fitness room and internet service.

This hotel is beautiful!!! It was very clean. The only change I would make is to prohibit smoking around the pool. I didn't see any ash trays around so a no smoking policy may be implied. Other than that, we are completely satisfied with our stay. The staff was neat, properly dressed, and helpful. All of the amenities were in working order. The parking garage under the hotel was very convenient and secure, as parking in VA Beach can be scarce!! It is within walking distant to many restaurants. We will definitely stay at Turtle Cay in the future!

My information is a little dated

My information is a little dated because my husband and I stayed here on our wedding night 5 years ago and the resort was very new at the time. It is set up in a square courtyard-style format, where all (or almost all) rooms have a view of the two outdoor pools and spa tubs - this is a very pretty and romantic view at night when it is lit up. Rooms come with two queen-size beds or one king-size or queen-size bed. The single king/queen rooms come with complimentary high-speed Internet access, a tub with jets, a large-screen TV and VCR in the bedroom, and cable TV in living area. The living area has a sofa, chair, coffee table, and gas fireplace, and there are private balconies with furniture and a lake or courtyard view. Our room also had a nice kitchen. It was set up a little differently in that, when you walk in the room, the bedroom is the first thing, and then you walk into the kitchen/living area.
My husband tried to do the traditional "carry over the threshold" move, but our key cards wouldn't work, so he had to run down and get assistance. And then the fireplace wouldn't light, but the staff was pretty quick to come and light it for us. I don't think we paid more than $85 during off-season (October), but this summer, the going rate seems to be about $300 for a king room.
If you have the money, this is a nice change from your run-of-the-mill accommodation on the boardwalk (but it does not face the ocean).

My family and I enjoyed one of the penthouse suites and it was fantastic. the fireplace was a real plus as the nights were chilly. The staff was polite and went out of their way to please.Extra kudos to the night manager who even mapped out good places to eat”
