A step back into the 70s

So let's get this straight - we visited Myrtle Beach to see a concert at the nearby House of Blues (which is a walkable distance). We booked two nights at Tricia Lyn.

The room was basic and in desperate need of renovation. The lighting fixtures weren't fully attached to the wall, the cover over the bathroom extractor was missing, and the whole place had a very tired feel.

We'd arrived late so went straight out for food and got back around 11pm. That coincided with a bunch of bikers returning and sitting outside their room talking and cursing until the small hours. At 1.30am I'd had enough so called the front desk, but no answer, and no sign of anyone else to contact in such a situation. With that, and the bikes heading up and down Ocean Blvd, all bets for a night's good sleep were off.

Next morning we went to sit by one of the two pools, which is about the size of a bathtub. The pool was disgusting and had clearly not been cleaned for some time. The crowning glory, to go with the scum on the surface and the leaves at the bottom, was the suspiciously canine looking deposit at the top of the pool steps. Not good.

I visited the front desk and ran through all these faults. They did, to be fair, relocate us to a new room on the ocean side of the site. The room was better but would have benefitted from the bath drain not being blocked, the wash basin plug not being connected at all to the lever, the AC rattling less, etc etc.

And finally, they do provide coffee machines, but no coffee, filters, etc. so make sure you bring your own.

There is no question that the location is superb - you step right out onto the excellent beach. Sadly, the hotel looks like it is on its last legs and the owners are waiting for a great offer from a large hotel corporation so they can sell the land for the fortune that it is worth.

Disappointed? Yep. We were.

This was my first trip to the ocean, So I was wanting something amazing. If you want amazing then your going to pay alot. For 6 days we spent $294, The room had its own a/c, freige, oven, coffee maker and sink. You could tell there had been water damage to the room, But other then that it was very clean and a great place to stay. Everytime wego down this is where we are staying.

My family and I have also used this location for about 25 yrs. It is one of the last of the original Motels left at North Myrtle. That being said you can't expect to stay here and think you will receive 5 star quality. It is old, so the rooms are not the best but our rooms have been clean. Also, with being a very short distance from a not so crowded beach, makes it well worth the cost (cheap).

Filthy!!!!

This place needs to be demolished!
When I was a kid, my family stayed there. Now, it's not fit for dogs. Manager is a stranger to the truth.

First appear great, rooms horrible

My family stayed here. When we checked in the lobby was beautiful and very clean. However, we were giving a room that was smoking because we got such "a deal." We are non-smokers. Then our room was dirty, smelly and just horrible. It really put a damper on our vacation. Also, when we complained it did no good. I would never recommend to anyone.
