Large room, historic charm, friendly

Large room, historic charm, friendly staff.Dirty room, limited wife, charged for parking, not well sound insulated from outside noise.“The Yorktown has historic charm and a nice downtown location. Our room, though, was in a more recent addition that lacked some of the charm of the original building. The windows must have been poorly insulated, as we were woken several times each night with outside noise - sirens, garbage truck, traffic, etc. The TV remote did not work, the carpet was stained and the bathroom exhaust fan was clogged with lint. The room was large and comfortable and the staff very friendly and helpful.”

The staff was absolutely wonderful!

The staff was absolutely wonderful! Clean rooms, comfortable. The drag racing that could be heard all the way on the 8th floor. It went on until very late, and was very loud. (street racing).“Everything about the hotel was wonderful except the racing outside. A police car pulled up outside, parked as the officer went to the coffee shop for some coffee. During this time, the street traffic was quiet. However, once the officer returned to his car and left, the noise started just as loud as before. It was a true nuisance. I would recommend the hotel in a heartbeat if not for the noise. We loved it.”

Old hotel which has been remodeled,

Old hotel which has been remodeled, very pretty and elegant for historical hotel.Hotel had a musty smell, location right downtown York, had to park valet every time and pay to park.“The hotel was a nice hotel for being a older hotel. Bathroom was very small and only had a shower stall. Parking for the hotel was horrible. Had to pay and valet every time you came back and forth. Not in the best section of downtown York. Hard to get to hotel because of all the one way streets. Would not stay there again.”

Huge room, nice fitness room,

Huge room, nice fitness room, quaint/historic feel.Almost no place to eat in downtown York on the weekend.“The Yorktown Hotel is a very nice historic hotel. The service was excellent - valet parking attendants were particularly friendly and helpful. My room was huge with a walk-in closet. The location isn't great on a weekend. Most of the restaurants in downtown York are only open Mon-Fri. The hotel restaurant seemed nice, but I did not eat there. The Yorktown is definitely the best option in downtown York.”

The size of the room and the grandness

The size of the room and the grandness of the lobby.Too far, out of our way. Not a nice part of town, sirens.“This was a very nice hotel, original moldings, some renovations, nice chandeliers. But my husband was furious that it took us 40 min off the interstate to get there, and we were not impressed by the neighborhood. The night quad told me that "the police take good care of them" and come right away for any trouble. This did not reassure me. I had 3 boys with me (teenagers), so the room size was nice. But $95.00 was a lot for that kind of inconvenience. I will have to be more careful next time.”

Large lobby and spacious clean rooms. Old elevators fun (and fast) Really enjoyed my stay and plan to go back!”

Free high speed Internet LAN and WIFI.Unprofessional, in decay, poor service.“Aside from good room cleaning, there was nothing about this hotel worth writing about. Valet parking was always a hassle. Bell hop service VERY POOR. Bags left if lobby for an hour unattended. False fire alarm at 6:30 AM, had to evacuate. Not even a free breakfast out of the deal. A/C was on the fritz.. Street noise terrible”

A nice attempt to restore a very tired old property but they failed.Fire alarm caused evacuation at 6:15 AM while FD checked every room. Shabby carpets, so bedding. mediocre TV's. Good Phone system & Internet“Well intentioned restoration of this old dump only about 2/3rd's complete. Elevators & some furniture appears 50+ years old. Good meeting rooms & restaurants, dreary bar, Excellent function & meeting rooms. Spotty service like parking valet often off duty, and so on. Street racing Friday & Sat nights right in front. Rooms large but obviously made from two original rooms, so space not well used. Good A/C. ”

Very helpful staff, clean room,

Very helpful staff, clean room, comfortable bed.Mandatory valet parking, expensive with tips and fees.“Historic grand hotel in downtown district. Very friendly staff and very clean. The bathroom was very small with not much space for a family of four to get ready in the morning. Mandatory valet parking requires daily parking fee and tips for valet drivers, although the staff was very friendly. No pool. Nice for get away with hubby, but probably wouldn't recommend if you are traveling with children.”
