Good Midtown Manhattan location. Walking distance to good restaurants, theater district, midtown museums (e.g., MOMA), 5th and Madison Ave. shopping. Grand Central Station and New York Public Library are easy walks down 42nd Street. Great concierge, lovely and helpful staff, attractive lobby and rooms. Nice bar.

My wife and I stayed here between Christmas and New Years. It was really something special to see New York City dressed up for Christmas. Very nice hotel. Easy check in and check out, good service and extra security on the weekend. All of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was large and clean. The room could have used an additional mirror near wall outlets. We had a corner room and you could see the Chrysler Building by looking to one side and the East River on the other side. It was a beautiful view at night. The bathroom was very clean. It was a little difficult to regulate the shower water temperture and the pressurer could have been better. The hotel is one block from Grand Central station which made it very easy to use the subway system. The hotel is located in Midtown Manhattan and we fould ourselves usually walking to and from Time Square, Fifth Avenue and Rockefeller Center. We did not eat at the hotel because we usually were always on go and wanted to try different restaurants. The hotel lobby was small and could have used a few more seats while we were waiting for our ride to the airport. Overall, we were very pleased with this hotel and would recommend others to stay here.l We would stay here again.

I was thrilled with everything about

I was thrilled with everything about the Hemsley. Check in was fast and easy. I was on the 28th floor in a corner room which had lots of windows and a spectacular view. Room service was quick and very accommodating. The room was always clean. On the weekend nights, I had to show my room card in order to get up the elevator. I thought this was a nice security measure since I am a female and alone. It was very quiet on the floor even on the weekend which was very nice. Staff were very eager to assist even before they were asked to help. It's easy to get to food places, the train station, and a pharmacy is right across the street which was very helpful for band-aids needed from all the walking.

All I can tell you is that Leona must be resting in peace knowing that wonderful service is everywhere and with every employee. The room was always clean, towels were replaced conseirge service was wonderful. The bar is smaller than I thought but Angel the bartender was wonderful and gave a service with a smile. I will always stay at the New York Helmsley next time and every time I visit New York

We just returned from another fabulous trip to New York City. We had a few of the Empire State Building right outside our window. Staff was nice and helpful. The rooms could use a little updating, but all in all a wonderful spot to rest your head. Walking distance to Times Square.

Centrally Located - Great Staff

Two 50 something Moms with two 20 something daughters shared a room for a long weekend. Great staff, wonderful concierge with great recommendations (loved DaNico in Little Italy). Relaxing bar, reasonably priced. Very central location with great deli right next door for coffee and breakfast. Room was cramped, but expected that with four women sharing two queen sized beds. Very crowded with European tourists which made for very interesting people watching (and listening). Would return without hestation....good value for price!

Excellent staff and food

Room was small and simple, but very quiet and perfectfor a great night sleep. Unusual in the city. Staff is made up of veterans, from front desk to housekeeping. They don't try too hard, no frantic excess, but get the job done. Food is excellent and a good value. Location is very good, close to Grand Central, close to Times Square but far enough away to escape the madness. Ask for a room upgrade if the room does not suit.
