I have eaten at the restaurant in the Mayfair Hotel several times during lunch with my co-workers. They have an outstandingweekly lunch buffet that is under $10.00. Lots of healthy food also.My favorite is the strawberry waffle ( made while you wait with fresh strawberry's. I get the strawberry waffle first ( its my appetizer ) can't help myself !

All Review Photos Mayfair Hotel is strategically located at the west of 7th Street, 10 minutes walk to the financial district of Los Angeles. At a moderate price, the location and conveniency of the hotel is a winning point. There is a Dash Bus stand right opposite of the hotel which brings you to the nearby financial district, which you can connenct to Metro Red Line underground train. Or, simply hop on a Dash bus for only 25 cents to Little Tokyo, China Townm Jewelry District, Garment District or even Union Station, the gateway for many transportation.Putting the strategic location aside, the hotel offers quite a number of cafes and restaurants nearby, with a laundry mart and a few convenient stores nearby. Whatelse can we ask for when the most important factors are being conveniently located nearby? As for the hotel itself, it's built during the heyday of the Roaring Twenties. The newly renovated Mayfair Hotel today still remain some of the brass fixtures and friezed pillars that adorn the lobby atrium. Each room offers a special view of Los Angeles while my room is facing the LAX Convention Center. At night it offers a great night scene of the brimming city! Clean and comfortable room with 2 twin beds, the room also have a built in wardrobe, a writing desk, TV, coffee maker and a clean bathroom. FREE internet service is available at the lobby. Although the connection is a bit slow, it comes handy for searching information at no cost!I am generally satisfied with Mayfair Hotel, which I have stayed for 7 nights in total!Friendly staffs at the lobby provides very helpful information on tours and packages, airport transfer as well as direction to certain places.

From the outside, the Mayfair looks

From the outside, the Mayfair looks like a stately towering old hotel from a movie. It's brick exterior is impressive. The lobby is enormous and opulent. The lobby is so nice, in fact, that you'd be surprised and a little disappointed with the rooms - if you hadn't scored such a bargain on the room price; if you book through the hotel's website, it will save you a great deal ~ I never pay more than $60 a night. If you've stayed in downtown Los Angeles before, you know this is an excellent deal.

YES, it is in a "bad" area. But I have traveled alone (and I am a 20s-age female) and I have never had anyone outside bother me other than to ask for change or give me the twice-over. If you ignore them and keep on your way, there will be no further botherance. I don't understand, for the LIFE of me - why people are so scared. It's really rather silly. Just use common SENSE and you'll have no worries.

Hotel is in a prime location. It is close to any convention, game, the fashion district. It's a cab ride/quick drive from USC if you happen to be visiting your offspring. Walking distance to the Staples Center and the Metro train station (which will take you anywhere you need to go in the city).

Ask for the highest floor possible when you check in - if nothing else, you will LOVE the skyline views. Particularly at sunrise and sunset.

The rooms are relatively clean and comfortable. YES, they are in need of an update. But let's be realistic - could this hotel afford to charge so little if they underwent serious update and renovation?? Probably not.

The guests are a mix of tourists and businesspeople. IF YOU ARE WORRIED about security, you needn't be ~ the hotel lobby is LOCKED at night and the doorman lets you in when you present your key. Alternately, if you PARK in the garage, it is also very secure and you come in through a back entrance.

My mother and baby sister stayed at this hotel when visiting before I moved away from the city. On return visits, I have stayed there by myself. Once for a week. And I never had anything bad happen.

The bathrooms are nice and clean ~ the tub is very small Euro style. Don't plan on taking a bath.

Overall, I would ABSOLUTELY reccomend this hotel to anyone who needed a reasonably priced room in this area of the city.
