I suggest anyone wanting to stay at Light House Inn in Ct should check our news reports about the hotel. They are having major problems and have had to close the restaurant, the bar, and there is no hot water in the rooms. Look for newspaper reports about the hotel.

Nice location, nice facade, nice people.

Nice location, nice facade, nice people.Needs refurbishment of plumbing, fixtures, rugs and wallpaper. Looks shabby.“If you're looking for a charming look and a classic New England location, the Lighthouse Inn Resort is a good. The dark, Victorian interior makes it look like a set for a creepy movie, but that is also part of its charm. Our experience with the bathroom fixtures and appointments was less than perfect and don't use the shampoo they provide you with, its called Coastal Breeze or something like that and it makes you smell like a wet dog! We also discovered that we were not impressed with sleep number beds, but if they are your thing.”

Beautiful grounds, large spacious rooms

Beautiful grounds, large spacious rooms very swanky. The private beach was not very appealing.“The Lighthouse Inn was fantastic. A nice little mansion turned into a hotel, in a quiter part of town just a block from a private beach. The only thing bad about the beach was that the inn supplied chairs which they did not at the beach, and at the beach it seems the hotel patrons were treated as second class compared to beach members it was a little off putting so we left the beach. Also there seemed to be no air conditioning in the hallways making travel to your room a little irritating. There was also no clear enterance/chek in are, we entered a door that from the outside would have appeared to belong to the restaurant attached to the hotel. Other than that everything was fantastic. DVD player in the room was a bonus as we had brought some DVDs with us. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.”

Excellent stay, unique and charming

After reading reviews on yahoo, I was hesitant in staying here. I have had several friends and family recommend this hotel.

What a surprise. What character, history and service. We couldnt have been happier.

Upon arriving Saturday, I was greeted by valet, and assisted by the staff in bringing our bags to our room. When checking with the staff about where our rooms are located. she stated I would be in the mansion.

To my understanding, there are a few buildings on the property and every room being different and unique. I made it clear that i didnt want the carriage house. She stated that this building is undergoing renovations- that are long over due....

We were assigned rooms 14 & 9. Both rooms were spotless and offered the same as any other hotel. They were definitely unique. Room 14 had the biggest bathroom I have ever seen, a dvd player & king bed, while 9 had a sleep number bed, fridge and microwave. Each with a variety of antiques and design.

We ordered room service at 7pm and attended brunch Sunday morning. The food and service was exceptional.

All the staff were very professional and knowledgeable- all friendly in suggesting several attractions and the areas history.

My only suggestion would be better towels.

We look forward to returning in 2008

Everyone was friendly. No air-conditioning very hot and uncomfortable, they did not offer to change rooms. I was very unhappy and feel I waited money.“The hotel was lovely, everyone was friendly and accommodating. The room was very hot the air condition did not work they raised the windows but did not help. They could not find my reservations. They did not offer to change me to another room. I did not get any sleep and think my money should be refunded.”

We cant wait to return!!!!! We

We cant wait to return!!!!! We normally stay with the cookie cutter hotels. We wanted to stay far away from the casinos and Mystic. The hotel was located about 10 minutes from everywhere in a upscale neighborhood. All the staff member were very friendly. Michael went out of his was to show us destinations that may be of interest and detailed information about the area and the hotel. We have a family reunion every year and we may just return for this event also. Our room was spotless and they upgraded us for 20 more dollars. Michael went out of his was to show us destinations that may be of interest and detailed information about the area and the hotel, al with a warm smile and great patience. There was a band playing in the lounge on friday and saturday nights. The band on Friday was excellent. The band on Saturday was extremely loud and just a poor performance. My only suggestion would be to offer the guests a discount or room service for the sunday breakfast.

Dissapointing Stay

My wife and I stayed at the mansion on October 5 and were sorely dissapointed with our room which was directly over the bar below. To begin with, the toilet didn't flush, paint was peeling from the ceiling above the tub, there was dark mold or mildew on the caulking around the tub, the chrome fixtures were old and worn looking, furniture in the bedroom was old an scratched, and the general appearance was of neglegted shabbiness.

When we returned to the room from dinner, it was literally vibrating with noise from the band which was in full swing in the bar below. We called the desk and had our room changed to one at the opposite end of the building which was significantly smaller than the one we had just left. This room had a raw piece of unpainted plywood with a ragged edge screwed into the window frame to support a small air conditioner. The bathroom had mold and the towels were tiny.

This old inn has potential to be a fine place to stay but it was sorely in need of major TLC. Overall, a very dissapointing visit and certainly not worth the money.

Old world charm

We were somewhat concerned at first. I insist on reading reviews on several sites... I must say we were quite surprised. When we checked in we were greeted with a warm smile and even taken to our room by a staff member. The room was quite large and clean. The bellman? was very knowledgeable, she knew a lot about the hotels history and was very friendly.

There was a band playing until 10pm in the tavern- very relaxing atmosphere. In the morning they had a very nice buffet breakfast-- i think it cost us 45 for the two of us. I would love to come back in the winter time-

We had a grest time, don't know what the people from PA were talking about, the place was awsome, had great music, food and the beach was beautiful. it really saved my marriage, wife went to the spa and was treated like a queen. I would absolutely recomend it to anyone.
