Holiday Dinner Blues

My family and I had our holiday dinner at the Thorn Hill and the portions (appetizers to the the entrees) were small and the prices were outrageous. The quality of the food was average. The owner (Ibby-female)walked the dining room like the the soup nazi from Seinfeld and had a very condescending attitude towards patrons. The owner acted as if it were a privilege to be dining in her establishment; she made our table feel uncomfortable on such a joyous occasion and to boot we were paying a lot of money....for what. We have never experienced such rude behavior, looks-stares, mannerisms, etc. by any restaurantuer or innkeeper. We know a lot of people and will tell them about our unfortunate experience. The owner should take a course in hospitality etiquette. Maybe she was upset that she was not out for a holiday dinner but when your business depends on happy customers, one must at least show the appearance of graciousness.

great location in a very pretty village

Good points: Great location in a very pretty village in a fantastically scenic area; attractive, well-maintained and efficiently-run hotel with lots of thoughtful extras such as complimentary afternoon tea and cakes; ample free parking; nice grounds with a decent-sized but unheated outdoor pool and a small hot tub; delicious, imaginative, beautifully-presented and varied food, (we’d recommend the breakfast specials); good-sized bedroom with ridiculous but comfy huge feather mattress and super big bathroom with jacuzzi bath

Let down by: Noisy generator (if you had the bedroom windows open); upstairs corridors narrow and felt oppressive
