While the beds were very comfortable, the room spacious, the TV huge, and the view spectacular, it was all the little things that really added to the charm. We walked in, the room reeked of smoke which was supposed to be "smoke free" We asked for a different room but they said they were "full in our room type" We said whatever and we went out to our lakeview balcony and continued to find a plastic case with dirty needles ALL OVER INSIDE IT AND SCATTERED ON THE GROUND!!! The breakfast was fabulous -- can't beat the variety nor the quality of the food. Absolutely loved cooking smores on the back porch in the evenings. Unfortunately, we didn't get the chance to use the rooftop swimming pool or use their bicycles (available for no extra cost), but we plan to do both the next time! The family suite we had was also very comfortable -- comfy bed, linens and nice bath products. There are two improvements that could be made however. I thought the continental breakfast had a nice selection of food items but was disappointed that they don't offer any sausage and/or bacon for Sunday's breakfast. (The scrambled eggs had tiny diced bits of ham in it which doesn't quite make it.) Also, the front desk person I talked to had no clue about what time the shops across the street open. When we visit the North Shore, this is our favorite place to stay. Right on the lake and the lake walk, a couple of blocks from the canal and Canal Park, it's close to most attractions. Food and shopping are within walking distance. They have nice, comfortable rooms with great views available, and a great breakfast. They have an evening "cook out" with smores.
