We stayed here for our daughter's wedding on the beach. We had several rooms, and everyone was so happy with the hotel. It is historic and beautiful. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Kudos to the bell staff for helping so much with our large truck and trailer, as parking is tight. They were also willing to help with transportation to anything close by on their golf cart for those that couldn't walk easily. The price is a little high, but worth it for the view, location, and historic but clean, comfortable rooms!

Besides being a wonderful spot to stay as a guest, this is also a great place to hold receptions and small conferences. My husband's office has a dinner here every year, and it is a lovely place for an outside cocktail party and then dinner in the dining area. There are great views from some of the rooms, and you will also enjoy the restaurant attached to the hotel.

We stayed 2 days at the Grande Colonial. The location is perfect for walking around La Jolla Village or down to the beach and along the seafront. The restaurant Nine Ten is pricey but highly recommended (we didn't eat there)

We initially had an ocean view room. We noticed a foul smell and soon discovered the sink was leaking. An engineer stopped by twice, but said he would not be able to fix it at that time of night. The main hotel was fully booked. It was just a few blocks away from the beach and we had a tiny view of the water. The suite was newly designed, very clean and stylish. We had a much better experience than we had expected!

This hotel has a wonderful view of the ocean. The rooms are elegant, and there is plenty of room to keep your luggage. They do not mess up on their wake up calls and their room service is prompt and delicious. This is an excellent hotel right in the middle of town if you are willing to pay a little extra for a great vacation.

I want to live there

Ok, so they didn't have a business center or a gym, but what they did have made up for it.

The decor was gorgeous throughout. The historical charm has been kept intact. In fact, they had good old fashioned dangerous windows that opened all the way with no screens, which were open when we arrived so the fresh ocean air filled the room. The beds were comfortable. The yellow terry cloth, cotton-lined robes were cozy.

Upon returning from an afternoon walk, we came back to discover that "someone's been messing with my bed" a la Goldilocks & the 3 bears. This was the first time I'd experienced turn down service, complete with slippers and a chocolate.

The best thing in La Jolla - I didn't want to leave!
