Historically pretty, but not worth the money

The Abbey is gorgeous, the grounds are amazing, beautiful swimming pool. The lobby is nice, as well as the chapel and banquet room, but my room was not nice.
I think this place may also be haunted, it just has a very spooky feeling to it. THey advertised hot continental breakfast but only offered bagels and rolls? Also they say they have room service but do not. I felt like I was the only one staying there, I don't think I ever ran into any other guests...kind of strange.

Creepy, Dirty, & RUDE! No wonder they are clos

The outside of the Abbey is stunning, but the inside is creepy....I wanted to change hotels as soon as we arrived. The website does a great job of selling it, that's for sure. There is no room service, they charge for local phone calls (including taxing those calls) The carpets and draperies are a poor attempt at old world charm, it feels more like a garage sale or Goodwill store. Our room was cold and depressing. The carpet and furniture were soiled, there were holes in the walls that needed repair and paint.
The old woman who works at the front desk admitted to overcharging me due to a local golf tourney when I was told the room was 30.00 less. She was argumentative and rude, her comment was "we can't please everyone". I will never stay here again, and would never reccomend someones staying here.

Great!

The place is very nice. The rooms are huge, the staff is great. Since we live in Florida and have a pool, not having a heated one was a disappointment. The little food bar serving snacks and stuff was just perfect also. One thing that lacked was wi-fi. Also, there is no elevator except the converted dumb waiter. Or at least I think that's what it's called.

The best place to stay in the QCA

This is a wonderful European style hotel. The complimentary hot hordeuvres in the evening and honor drink bar are a fun way to unwind at the end of the day. The hot breakfast always has an impressive display of very fresh fruit, the best cheesy scrambled eggs, and bacon or sausage. Plus lots of pastries and juice. the coffee is as good as starbucks. All of this for 99 a night. the rooms are large and well appointed with WIFI throughout the hotel. The staff is responsive and friendly. they could upgrade the VCR's in the rooms to DVD players though. Balanced with what you get for the money I don't know why anyone would stay anywhere else when visiting the quad cities.

If you're looking to stay in a beautiful hotel, this is the place to be. It's absolutely gorgeous inside and out. The building is and old monestary remodeled. They have many holiday dinner specials and it's a great place for a wedding. A great place for an anniversary weekend or any other special occasion.
