Me and my husband stayed at Terrace on The Waters is absolutely wonderful. We loved how big the rooms were and clean they were. Even the cleaning lady was very helpful making sure we had everything we needed. The scene off my balcony was excllent we could hear the sounds of the creek below; it was so peaceful. What I really thought was neat was Daisy the duck in diapers in the lobby. We had a restful weekend. Home away from home. Thanks for making my weekend so enjoyable.

"A Gatlinburg Gem"

My best friend and I recently stayed 3 days and 2 nights and Terrace on the Water and we both loved it! The first thing I noticed about the Terrace is the friendly owners who made me feel comfortable from the moment I checked in. There was always a friendly wave when we'd exit or enter the property. I'd like to thank them for such an enjoyable and stress-free stay.
I have been to Gatlinburg several times during my childhood and have stayed at most of the hotels on the parkway and the Terrace surpasses them all without question. Upon entering the room we found the a/c already turned on, which was a relief, considering the hot and humid temps. The room smelled fresh and clean and I was surprised by how spacious it appeared. There were 2 queen sized beds and they were both covered in a nice country-style quilt that made the room seem more home-like than the standard (and ugly) floral motel comforters. All of the bedding and towels were very clean. There was a table and 2 chairs and a full-length mirror which was very useful and unexpected
One of the best parts of the room was the balcony with the view of the creek which was included at no extra charge, a great deal. The mini fridge was a good size and were able to fill it with several drinks and snacks and it kept them nice and chilled. There was also a small coffee maker, however, we did not use that as neither of us drinks coffee. There was a trash can and coke machine located right outside our door which was very convenient. The bathroom was small but clean and the sink and vanity are actually separate from the bathroom which was kind of nice since there were 2 of us getting ready. The room was very quiet at night, especially with the a/c on. We were never bothered by the noise of traffic and/or other guests.
The ice machine located by the office was always filled with ice and it looked very clean. There was also a handy display of maps and brochures that we took advantage of. The hotel is in a great location and its easy to walk to everything on the strip so there is no need to bring the car. The pool was an adequate size for the number of rooms and it was never crowded but the water is really, really cold!
I do believe that the Terrace is a Gatlinburg gem, its a wonderful place to relax and just enjoy your vacation.

The review below is the same reviewer that has wrote many bad reviews under different email addresses on this site and others. We are in process of obtaining the IP address on the person and hold them liable for the fraud reviews. We are highly rated and very dictated to our guests every need. Our policies are no different that any other hotel or motel, and they are in place to protect everyone staying at the Terrace.

Smokie Mountains best little Inn

My husband and I stayed at the Terrace on the Water this weekend. It was the first actual vacation we have had without our children in 23 years. We have stayed at this motel in previous years. It was previously owned by an older couple who were very very nice. The new owners have made wonderful renovations and personal touches to this motel.

After reading other reviews I would like to comment on the rules of this motel. These rules are put into place to protect the people that stay there and also the property. How do you think some ot these places get so run down? This motel is so clean and well maintained that you feel like you want to keep it clean also. It all comes back as a benefit to the people that stay there. If you would rather stay in a rag bag place with no rules then go for it.

This motel is back off of the road, quiet, protected, and as clean as a whistle. The owners are very respectful of your privacy and your needs. The rooms are spotless, the pool has a fountain and drowns out any noise from the traffic. The balcony overlooks a beautiful stream.

I would highly recommend staying at this motel. Guys, I thank you for making our first getaway together in 23 years a wonderful, relaxing, fun weekend. Keep up the great work and know that your hard work is much appreciated.

Just say NO

This hotel is to be avoided at all costs. The owners have a "agenda" they are rude and will spy on you. They scream at guests that do not follow the rules. They didn't look crossways at me because I wouldn't stand for anyone doing that. Hotel is in poor condition and needs updating. There are 100 of better choices in town.

great place to stay with charm

My wife and I are from Indiana and love coming down to experience the charm on Gatlinburg as often as we can. We really enjoyed our stay at Terrace On The Water. It is a clean, comfortable, and relaxing place to stay that is right on the main street of Gatlinburg and within walking distance to everything. The owners put in a lot of work beautifing this motel and genuinely care about the people who stay here. If you want a clean room, right on the main drag for a reasonable price, look no farther. I recommend Terrace On The Water.

Loved it, Didn't want to leave

My wife and I have just returned from a week at Terrace on the Water in Gatlinburg, TN. We also stayed there for two weeks in May 2008. This is the cleanest, friendliest and most pleasant experience we have had the privilege to enjoy. Over our thirty years together, we have made a week's visit to Daytona Beach, FL, New Smyrna Beach, FL, Virginia Beach, VA, Hilton Head Beach, SC, and the Weston in Cincinnati, OH, but we have never enjoyed such hospitality as Terrace on the Water provided us in May and July of this year. I have been visiting Gatlinburg, TN since 1959, including several visits per year during the Sixties, Seventies, Eighties, and Nineties and the fine owners at the Terrace go out of their way to make sure you are surrounded by cleanliness and comfort. The balconies over the Roaring Fork River provide an extra serenity that lets visitors know they have reached a tranquil vacation spot. We honeymooned in Gatlinburg in 1983 and never had the wonderful time we experienced at the Terrace. Anyone who wants to enjoy great hospitality and beauty should make it a point to stay at Terrace on the Water in Gatlinburg, TN.

What a Great Place

We are headed to Florida tommorow and I hate leaveing the Terrace. This is one of the most quaint little places we have ever stayed at. The room is so clean and large and the best of all is the Creek. We walked to all the shops and had a great time talking to the owners about the area. This is a must place to stay if your in Gatlinburg. I need another week here but Florida calls. We will be back.

Mom and Pop vintage flashback!

My husband, our Yorkiemutt, and I were in dire need of R&R when I found this motel online. We stayed for 3 days and 2 nights. The owners are onsite and very personable. The setting is lovely, adjacent to a sizeable stream. Noise from the "main drag" was minimal yet we were close enough to grab a quick bite at the Hard Rock. Their policies concerning parking, smoking in nonsmoking rooms, and undeclared "visitors" seemed reasonable and in the best interest of the guests. The motel is old, like most in the Gatlinburg area. Our room was spotlessly clean and the furniture was updated. The carpet wasn't great but you are talking about a pet-friendly room with frequent cleanings. The mattresses could have been newer but I still slept very well with minimal nighttime noise. The bed linens were clean and well maintained. The bath towels were soft, absorbent, and plentiful. The shower had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. Updated air conditioning kept us very comfortable during 90+, high-humidity weather. They had a great ice machine! They even provide a comfy blanket for your pooch's use, which our "baby" snuggled into immediately. In all honesty, if I were staying a week in the mountains I would spring for a cabin with newer amenities, but for a short jaunt it was exactly what we needed. In times of high stress, I am sure we'll be calling these guys again to help us relax and recharge.

I love this place. We were their on the 23rd of May and stayed in a large standard room and loved it. The room was on the water and so clean and we slept the best in years. The shower heads were a little low but I know that it's an older place. We were able to walk to everything so I move the car once! I saved on gas there. We will be back. Say hi to Daisy the duck for us.
