Comfy bed & large room

Before going to NYC I spent a lot of time researching the guest reviews of many hotels and decided on The Surrey because of the high rating for the beds and sq. feet of the rooms. It was nice to have a comfortable bed and space to move around after a long day of site seeing and walking. Slept wonderfully in the bed...great pillows too. It felt like home (better). We celebrated our 30th anniversary and had a corner room on the 10th floor. Very quiet and just off Central Park. Two blocks to subway. Upon arrival (or by internet) confirm return transportation with Super Shuttle. I was able to use the computer in the lobby with no fee. Would recommend and will stay again on next trip. Reserve early to get better prices on rooms.

I'm pretty sure the Surrey has been

I'm pretty sure the Surrey has been modified from an old apartment building. While it feels aged, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the property from my vantage point. And the room I had was easily the largest I've ever stayed in while in Manhattan. Turn down service is a nice touch and the hotel manager also sent up a bottle of wine during my visit. It seemed like there were more tourists staying while I was there, but I'd recommend the Surrey regardless of the reason for your visit to NYC.

Highly Recommended

My sister, nephew and I were displaced from my apartment during the NYC blackout in 2003 and had to evacuate my home. this hotel was in the neighborhood and we moved in to a 1 bedroom suite that was fabulous. under hard times, the hotel was gracious, did not take advantage of the situation and was so nice I thought about staying permanently. would recommend to anyone that needs more space than a typical NYC hotel room but doesn't want to pay the Ritz price for the Best Western.

I would make it back......to Boulud as well

In general I really do not have a serious
complain. What could be regarded as one was
seeing some furniture deterioration in the
room I stayed and that was a definite sign
of utter neglect. Where were the people
concern? They should pay more attention to
the way the maids do their job and correct
it whenever it is needed.
Regards,
Maxie

I always stay here as it feels more like a city apt. than a hotel, love the staff and the location the best, best! I adore this charming hotel. It may not be the newest but it is an excelent hotel, a European freind told me that all her freinds stay here when they visit Ny and stay for a few weeks. She does too.

My Favorite Place in NYC

This place is such a great value. The rooms are huge, particularly the one bedroom suites which are easily big enough for four people with their full kitchen and dining area. The staff is friendly. The lobby is cozy and elegant. The location is fantastic, just a block from Central Park and walking distance to most of the art museums. Room Service is exceptional too with gourmet food from world famous chef Daniel Boulud Cafe Boulud. The decor is a little worn, but features elegant chintzs in shades of salmon and sky blue. You must reserve early because it is often full up visiting actors and other people in the know.

Home Away from Home

Since The Mark closed we have stayed at The Surrey and loved it. Friendly, helpful staff. Large, comfortable suites suitable for my adult son and myself. Great closet space which is important as we usually stay for two weeks. The neighborhood can't be beat. A block away from Central Park, close to the subway line, easy walk down to theatre district.
